Default 1:200 Inflight200 VC-25AP (747-200) Air Force One

I wasn't sure if this posting is appropriate for this section, because the model is an USAF airplane .

Anyways, if this posting needs to be moved to military section, would be fine.

Here is the second arrival of the 7 (seven) airplanes, my wife bought for me.

This is the Inflight200 latest release, of the United States of America Boeing VC-25AP (747-200). Model number: IFAFIVC-25AP

I usually don't collect military airplanes but when I saw this release presented on YouTube, I was totally speechless.
My wife took note of my reaction and she really wanted me to have it, so here it is!...

In my opinion, the execution of this release is superior and exceptional!

It has all the details you would expect from Inflight200 and plenty more .

Polished fuselage sections [mirror like], chrome engines intakes and exhausts.
Wingtip antennas on all four wings, which are part of the actual wing mold, not an add on detail.
Lots of antennas on the top and bottom of fuselage.
Rotating fan blades inside the engines, sturdy fixed undercarriage and rolling threaded rubber tires.
A superb display stand with presidential seal emblem and aircraft description.
The model also comes with a golden presidential seal emblem, shown on most of the pictures, specially in the last two.

This model is a must have!...They are selling out fast, don't wait.

Here are some pictures for your enjoyment.

I never saw the Gemini release...Please post some pictures for comparison .

If this Inflight release would come with removable undercarriages and extended flaps, would have been a one of a kind !
Perhaps the future Inflight releases, would include these suggestions...

I hope Inflight is reading this post .

Here’s the Gemini200 version.
Personally I prefer this one too over Inflight200, with the removable gear, and overall quality.

The real thing has two APU in the tail. talk about redundancy....lol...Would be cool to have an interactive AF1 with working airstair.

Gemini version is nice, indeed!

A few distinct differences can be noted, such as;
Different types of antenna configurations on the top fuselage.
The wings don't have any "no walk" marking lines on them.
Plain wooden display stand and I wonder if the rear stabilizers are made of plastic or metal, because on their latest E-4B version, Gemini used plastic stabilizers instead.

The 82-9000 tail registration, depicts the 2nd VC-25 aircraft, that's always on "stand by" if/when the president is using the 82-8000.

Despite of all these differences, the Gemini release is still a nice model to have.

Thanks for the pictures.

while this Inflight200 2nd copy of SAM 28000 is very nice with a nice display stand and collectors coin and I am very close to hitting the button. I am waiting for GJ to release SAM 28000. I have all the USAF Presidential transports released so far.

I will point out a very important feature which is present on the GJ which is not on any Inflight200 VC-25A's and that is the Anti missile counter measures tubes at the top of the four engine pylon mounts. See here

and tail counter measures

One more side view of the counter measures side view profile present on GJ SAM29000 but not Inflight200's SAM's.

Despite Inflight releasing it's second copy of SAM 28000 well after GJ released their copy

Both versions are beautiful imho, nice pics aswell. Never bought an AF1 but with IF's last release I couldn't resist any longer, so bought it.

Despite a few key missing elements I do need SAM 28000 in my collection too Tom. Do I wait for GJ or hit the button? There is no guarantee GJ will release 28000. It is a very nice display stand for a model with fixed gears to offset limited display options

Oh......that missile countermeasure feature on engines pylons is probable one of the most important feature of the SAM 28000 (VC-25).
Thanks for pointing that out. Too bad, Inflight omitted that significant important detail

Are the stabilizers on Gemini release, made of plastic or metal !?

You should get the gemini one too so then you will have both of the VC-25A to display next to each other... . I might save up to get the inflight one also if gemini don't make the 28000 (which i doubt they will).

Don't forget to also get the C-40C and C-32 both made by hogan for very cheap price to complete your presidential transport fleet

Also should get the E-4B...it's a nice aircraft too

Good choice...
Yes there are a few differences between IF's and Gemini's releases, as mentioned above [specially that missile countermeasures tubes on engine pylons], but still Inflight release is somewhat more "distinct" looking...that's just my personal opinion though!

The golden collectors coin, representing the aircraft and the presidential seal, is in my opinion, a nice and unique "souvenir"!

Inflight already knew that GJ/JCW tooling did special these special engine mounts/tooling to reflect the correct counter measures of 747's on Air Force One with this feature that also go beyond Air Force One for other Government 747 series transports as well by the way also that have this feature. So I am wondering why a second release has been made without a correction.

Hmmm...good question!

Also another omitted detail on Inflight release is the absence of the fuel drain masts, at the edge of ailerons...

Still a nice model, though. I once had a Skymarks AF1, but it had no detail at all

I have a hogan VC-25A also. It looks like any regular 747-200. doesn't even have the wingtip antennas or refueling bulge either but it's good to have it just for playing so i don't have to touch the more weighty and expensive gemini one.

Yes, I remember my first VC-25 in 1:200 scale...back in 2004, it was the Herpa release, it was very simple and plain...

Despite of all the differences between Inflight and Gemini, each model is beautiful in its own way.
No model is ever perfect so, I'm very pleased with this Inflight200 release, specially that my wife bought it for me.

I've had the Gemini release of the E-4B and I didn't like it very much...
I kept it for a few months on display, then I sold it...

The rear stabilizers were made of plastic and that was a turn off for me, and it had that fine and delicate double wire antenna, mounted between the tail and port and starboard fuselage, which it turned out to be a bit of a nightmare when I was dusting the model off.

The removable undercarriage was a nice option though...

Thanks for the pictures.
I think the other big difference in the Gemini model is how discreet the pax doors are in comparison. This is one of the reasons I sold my Inflight 200 in lieu of the Gemini model. On the real AF1 you can hardly see the door outlines and there is nothing on the bottom. Replicating this was what I preferred. I think all in all the Gemini model is certainly superior, but both are nice and IMHO "must haves" in ones collection.

If the whole model is made of plastic in combination with solid resin, that's fine...but having plastic components, mixed with metal, is not my preference .

In my collection, I have a couple of models with plastic components such as;
JC Wings Swissair MD-11 - plastic engines
Gemini A300 FedEx - plastic engines, rudder and stabilizers ...

Anyways, this entire thread, in my opinion, reveals the following conclusion:
Gemini200 version of the VC-25 is better than Inflight200.
The Inflight version is nice to have, but the Gemini is a must have!

Thank you all who participated [with pictures or opinions], into reaching this verdict

Damn that E4-B and VC-25A from GJ are really beautiful the only problem I have that I dislike that manufacturer logo ( completely different colors in comparison with plane’s livery ) printed on the belly. That’s why I stick with JCW 747’s to be honest. Inflight’s ‘sunset’ logo is WAY to much for me on that baby blue/white and polished aluminum combo. It’s a weird nitpicking I have I know... I would kill for VC-25A and E-4B released by JCW!! Is there any chance we get them released by JCW??

If anyone else hasn't seen the Dragon 1/144 cutaway model, here it is. I got one and it's not too bad for the price of around $60 plus shipping:

Probably one of the cheaper 1/144 models. The model does have removable landing gears like all the other dragon models. Also come with external airstair. There's the entry door in the front that can be shown open or close.

No idea why they label it as -400 on the box. at least the model itself does not have the -400 winglets but sadly it's missing the wingtip and horizontal stabilizer tip antennas. It does have the refueling bulge in the nose. No spinning fan in the engines either.

Thanks for posting this Dragon 1:144 scale release...I remember when they first came out, I had one on preorder, but cancelled, as it looked like an interactive toy, than a model worth collecting

It's not bad for the price. and yes, very plasticky and a little creaky as the fuselage is obviously made of many parts but the price is cheap enough and you don't really have anything else like it for anywhere close to the price. so i think any fan of AF1 should have one anyway. I am sure once this is no longer avail, the price will def be a lot more than $60.

Btw, if you miss it from the photo, there is even a small presidential figurine included. you can see the figurine in the box just above the fuselage/vertical stabilizer junction..

How do you like the Inflight version!?
I can't wait to see them side by side [Gemini vs Inflight: AF1]

I checked around and the gemini version is no longer easily found ;(. it's obviously discontinued. If you ever find one, esp one at a decent price, GET it ASAP!.

The Gemini version is better. The Gemini/JC version is generally better on all 747’s.

Yes, it's discontinued and if by any chance I will find it, it would be at a very steep price...I missed the "boat" on that, so I will hold on to the Inflight version

Yes, Gemini 747's are very nice compared with the Inflight. I think it's a shared mold with JC Wings. The last Gemini 747 that I had was the E4B, which was nice but didn't like the rear stabilizers being plastic

I know that at the time of capture to make a model of an aircraft the manufacture does their best with their R&D teams. I know this is a lovely model carparadrom but I will wait to see if GJ/JCW will do SAM28000 with the three new camel humps (SATCOMS) which was not done on Inflight200's second release. Also some new windows plugged in too. These are the most frequently modified aircraft on Earth it seems

Even SAM29000 has new Satcom's and changed antenna since the Gemini Jets200 original release. Once again now it probably has three new camel humps,
however this picture show two

GJ original release below with GJ E4-B

Yes, I've noticed the antenna configuration has recently changed on the actual aircraft.

I'm more disappointed with Inflight for not having the chaff dispenser on each engine pylon ...and also I wonder why they added the wings line markings, when the actual aircraft never had them...

Yea Gemini-200 surely would be my choice as well not only the extra details like it's anti air defense system but also the jeweled landing lights in the wings, When Gemini jets 200 was the better alternative with JC Wings back in the day, still hoping they will bring this detail back though :X

Still IF 200 did a nice job with the painjob and decals, but yea this thread was well worth booking in to, thanks for sharing guys.
