Default Who Likes Big?? Antonov x 3

I am a big fan of the Antonov Design Bureau. Here the fleet from Kiev is in. The Antonov 225 is the Herpa general release that I have had for several years. I am not going to highlight that one here as photos and threads have previously featured it (yes I know the plastic sleeves are still on front and rear). The AN-124 and AN-22 are from the Airhubstore out of Kiev. They are solid resin and each also has the typical JC/Inflight 200 display stand as well...I highly recommend you visit their website as they have lots of goodies. They are easy to deal with and communicate very well especially via whatsapp. Along with the 2 models I had to have a shirt and keyring to match!

Here is their website:
www.airhubstore.com Please tell them Russell sent you!

I don't see any AN-22 available in any scale at all. OOS?

Crownvic, i am considering getting the AN-225 and AN-124, would they give me any discount for getting both? lol..

Also like to get a 1/200 C5 Galaxy. Is the Herpa 1/200 at $300 my only choice?

I'm not sure the AN-22A was pictured when I ordered the AN-124 I believe it was offered to me while ordering. they communicate via whatsapp so they send photos immediately. Right now the only 1/200 C-5 is the Herpa. Fenwick models also offered it years ago too but hard to find..As for a discount, it wont hurt to ask!

Oh, that AN-22 looks super...
For some reason, it reminds me of the cold war era.

Those counterrotating prop engines are very nice, well detailed.

I checked their website and the AN-22 is not available

Very nice models Russ!

It was indeed designed and first flown in the Cold War, back in 1965. Built to carry the Soviet nuclear armed missiles of the day. Despite some of them being painted up in Aeroflot livery back then, they were all operated and belonged to, the military. When I used to work in flight ops at Stansted airport during the 90s, we provided ground support for what was Heavylift/Volga Dnepr. Following Heavylift’s demise Volga became a separate deal, and they set up their own ops/commercial offices in the same building as us. That new arrangement meant that sometimes there could be as many as two 124s on the ground at the same time, along with an Il76 or two. We also looked after the Stansted flights operated by Air Foyle Antonov Airlines. Foyle folded and the rest is history. We once handled the Libyan 124, in my opinion the best looking livery on the 124. The first visit of the An22 brought the airport to a virtual standstill, especially the early morning take off. If memory serves, it was carrying an entire ‘flat pack’ hospital and ancillary medical equipment. On entering the aircraft via the main undercarriage ‘blister’ it was like boarding a submarine. There was a huge door with a submarine type lock wheel on it, I seem to remember that the main hold was not pressurised. I was told by one of the crew that the An22 had the same engines and propeller set up as the Tu95. Well, all that was almost thirty years ago, in another life now as they say. I’ll still never forget that morning of the departure, the sound and all the people out on the apron to see it take off. Magic!

Yes I have, several times but most people think that Sam flew on the plane when in fact he did not...he was there for the loading and unloading and did not actually fly on it...Kind of misleading...

@MSR777 To my knowledge only one Libyan An-124 Ruslan remains ( confiscated by Antonov ) after the AN-124-100, registration 5A-DKN was destroyed in Tripoli. Here’s the link

there ANTONOV225 + BURAN SHUTTLE is a great price @ around £180 gbp. but shipping + customs charges would nearly double it sadly. I assume its resin? I used to have the mahogany PCM version. that was around £150 iirc. impossible to find now like fenwicks C-5.

I am from the States, and seriously thinking about getting them too. I don't see any cheaper way of getting any of these in 1/200. Good thing also for us, we don't get hit with custom charge for lower price stuffs. It looks like for US, we don't have to pay any custom charge for up to $2000. Shipping to US is slightly more expensive at $60.

well they also do a 1/250 Buran version at 92 euros LESS. its similar to a 1/200 747. sadly in u.k anything over £15 GBP attracts customs charges if bought from a shop. its £36 if bought privately. some places will put lower value on. a lot won't. if you ask for lower value and it gets damaged, you can only claim the lower amount.

not a good idea to get 1/250 for me since i can't display the model next to all my other 1/200. I only have a couple of 1/250 1/500 with everything else largely in 1/400 and 200 otherwise.

wouldn't bother me much. only got 1 1/200 model. and a few 1/400. the rest are all military. mostly 1/72, but got them in all scales.

added a few more since.

only $68 for 1hr of 737 sim time (pilot and copilot seat included). Too bad the sim is in kiev. probably not full motion sim. but the price is certainly cheap though.

I'm not sure why? several threads posted right now with as models..

http://asmodels.com.ua/

You will be hard pressed to find a TU-114 for under $250.00 Even ARD will be in that price range. The only alternative is the military version TU-95 by Herpa in the $125 range.

ASModels does great work, I can vouch for them as I have had them create several customs for me in the past (one of the IL-18s and one of the IL-62s they have recently posted pictures of are destined for me as well ). But you should note they are custom-made and as such will never be in the price range of mass-produced models.

Yeah, the one off custom made one are obviously gonna be more expensive. I guess they don't have the ability to do a mass produced one for cheaper? Say if about 20 of us interested in one particular plane?

That will never happen. Does anyone here remember my thread titled "Who wants a Mercure"?
Looked like everyone was interested until it came time to commit. We needed 20 commitments to go ahead, we only got 12.
Since these are labour intensive, I can't see much of, or any discount being given.

They certainly are beautiful models, a couple have me thinking.

I have the Western Tu-114, the Herpa AN-225, a PCM(?) Volga-Dnepr AN-124 and the Western AN-22 Soviet Air Force and the 2 AH Antonov aircraft on preorder from AM in Holland. Also the AN-225 with the Buran shuttle. They will look pretty cool displayed together.

I 've asked Airhub to consider not gluing the buran and the mounting to the buran or the AN. told them that there are several advantage to not doing that.

1. Better protection for shipping since it's easier to make a good fitting foam cutout for the separated buran and AN as compared to if one is on top of the other. Also the skinny mounting struts can easily break up if glued to either one.

2. Allows for the collector to have more flexibility of display

Also told him to make it a wheel down ver.

If they do that, i would consider buying another one also.

well le us know when they arrive and what you think. and post some pics. still looking to get the 225 buran. the AVM 1/200 buran is 299 euros plus post. way more expensive than airhub. even with possible customs charge.
