Must... have... NOT.
Sorry for somehow hijacking your choice of words, SWA103... open doors and cargo hatches may attract airline customers for promotional purposes and a few cargo ‘action fans’ but the accuracy (just focus on seams and gap dimensions) is horrible and reminds me of toys.
Well, I’d say it’s just not my cup of tea.

Awesome step in the right direction!! I can't wait to see what this looks like with an adorning livery. It will be interesting to see the final product with all the doors closed, seams, etc. Either way, I love seeing manufacturers make bold steps like this. GG Gemini!!

Exciting! This will be perfect for a diorama setup. Let's hope they get the printing right. While you're at it GJ, how about improving the quality/detail of the landing gear?

Very nice gimmick! Hope to see a KLM and UPS. Very nice for a diorama set up, bring them on!

It seems so if you look closely at the nose cone in the second picture.
I hope the removable parts will sit more tight when they´re closed than in 1/400.

Good question. Main problem with movable parts on metal toys! Now, you can argue if you will use your 1/200 scale model like a toy; you’d probably not, but you were going to change the configuration cargo doors and hatches from time to time, for sure. And let’s see those gap dimensions...

Re: Gemini 200 New tooling 747F. Interactive serie
I think this release is ideal for making a nice cargo diorama. I think it is not really the intention to display a model like this in flight mode, there are enough cargo 747's released to do just that. This is intended for a nice set up with gse. And ok, building a nice diorama is just the adult way to play with your models.

Re: Gemini 200 New tooling 747F. Interactive serie
This is one of those display with opening features diorama style with unloading equipment etc. I'm with Baerke on this. This model was intended to be displayed as in unloading mode not flight.

Well, if that was the case, you wouldn’t need movable (= interactive) parts...! They could do cargo doors and hatches in ‘open’ position and that’s it.
Still, I am interested in seeing the final result.

Lol. you know where all my models (plastics and metal) are? they are all inside boxes with the exception of a few plastic models on display on desk. Of those plastics on display, they all have another duplicate tuck away in boxes....
I have a JCwing 747-8 that had one of the engine pylon broken off from the wing due to shipping from hongkong. fixed with glue but otherwise everything else is all good... So i am fine with moving parts...lol.

That makes me sad. I cannot imagine having models that I could not see when I walked past the shelf or sat in the same room. The day I run out of space is the day I need a bigger house... or worse, I stop collecting and move to a “buy one, sell one” mode.

Yes a flaps down 727 (or Tristar or DC-10)! Many many years ago during the reign of Woosters, PPC's and Flight Miniatures (way before Gemini, etal) I went to visit the Airplane shop in Miami that was situated near a runway at MIA. I saw these planes landing with their flaps in full glory. And when I went in the store, there was a 1/72 727 model with flaps down hanging from the ceiling and I thought it was the most beautiful thing ever. I remember coveting it so much. I even met the guy who made it who was there at the time. I think he told me he made it for a competition. So definitely a 727 flaps down is a wish come true.

You mean Just Plane Crazy close to (what was then) RWY09R? Loved that little dedicated store. Just cannot remember what airline that 727 was. And I loved Spirit Restaurant, with all their Eastern Air Lines stuff and models hanging from the ceiling. Those were the days, man...

You're right! It was Plane Crazy. And yes the Spirit restaurant. Ah, memories!
Re: Gemini 200 New tooling 747F. Interactive serie
Technically it was called Aerogem first then switched to Just PlaneCrazy, and it was owned by Bruce and Paula Drumm. They were also very instrumental in getting Airliners International Magazine started back in the late 80's.
FYI, at one time for a period of 2-3 years 1986-89 half the models hanging from the ceiling were mine left on consignment and a check would be sent out once a month . I did not own the 727 mentioned. There was also a pilot uniform store called TALLY-HO on NW 36th st across from the Eastern Airlines corporate offices that had a nice selection of new AirJet Advance models for sale too but way overpriced...
Getting back to the topic at hand..If someone is worried about seams then they should not buy this model. I am told that TENTATIVELY the side and lower door will be permanently open and just the nose will move. THIS ISSUBJECT TO CHANGE. It is clearly intended for the cargo collector. As to why the nose door would even close does not make a whole lot of sense unless the plan changes to interchangeable open and close replacement side and lower doors similar to its little 400 scale brother . Like the LCF 744 mine on display has the tail swung open so the seam isn't a factor.

I like the fact that the drip strip over the rear cargo door is actually molded instead of printed, pretty nice touch, but like most I am a little concerned with how these will turn out.

I‘d say: relax and we‘ll see.
CrownVic, is there any airline or corporate contract for the 1/200 interactive 747-400F model in the works or already existing? I copied your recurring statements concerning Gemini ‘primarily releasing models to make $$$ in the business’, therefore I am curious about that. The freighter collectors group is probably not big enough...

Concerning the topic sidekick: Indeed, AeroGem did even issue airline postcards in their early days if I am not mistaken. Just Plane Crazy always had dedicated personnel but everyone felt they could or should go and look for a more spacy store. That Furniture warehouse at RWY09R would have been a good idea.
As you did mention AirJet Scale Models... I recall they also sold their models directly when you called them up in Miami, so no need to pay overpriced tags in that Crew Shop. Never been to that one, though, as far as 36th Street is concerned, I was all over for the Pan Am Aware Store at the Pan Am Flight Academy.

Re: Gemini 200 New tooling 747F. Interactive serie
I like this idea for current and next Gen collectors. I will get one freighter with this option. I agree with other collectors on flaps down on 707's, 727's and 737's both passenger and freighter' s future releases please

Re: Gemini 200 New tooling 747F. Interactive serie
Everything needs to be interactive - just like the 1/400 version. I don't know that I'd buy it if all the doors couldn't be in a closed AND an open position.
Re: Gemini 200 New tooling 747F. Interactive serie
seems like this is only available inn -400F version. Does that mean because UPS 747-8F is already made, if they do an interactive ver, they have to pay another license fee? ;( if so we might never see the UPS 747-8F interactive ver..
Re: Gemini 200 New tooling 747F. Interactive serie
Interesting, that would mean that the first release would be the Cargolux retro 744.

I know that Gemini and JC share their moulds, but I'm surprised that JC releases the Interactive series first. And I assumed the price would increase.
Maybe it's just a typo in the ad and the Cargolux is not the first Interactive release.
Re: Gemini 200 New tooling 747F. Interactive serie
The 777 with open cowlings was one release only?
