Default Qantas 707-338C City of Tamworth by Inflight200

Product Item # IF707QF1119P

"City of Tamworth" VH-EBV arrived at Sydney airport 9 September 1967 after it's delivery flight. This was Qantas 22nd new Boeing aircraft delivered.

It's was about time that the 707-300 tool got a display stand hole and a nice display stand for the 707-300 series. Thank you Inflight.

Excellent model Steve, glad I have her too in my collection. Question; was this a combi aircraft because of the big cargo door in the front?

Yes Tom, Boeing used " C " in the all their Combi's titles and it started with the 707

Qantas used combi's an all it's 707-3's hence their Boeing designation was 707-338C' and they are

VH-EBN,EBO.EBP,EBQ,EBR,EBS,EBT,EBU,EBV (this model),EBW and EBX.

Qantas Also purchased 3 747-238-SCD's VH-ECA, ECB & ECC none of which have been made in diecast. Let's hope some come in QF's 100 birthday year!

Beautiful model Steve, nicely detailed and quite interesting.

C stands for Convertible, with Freight at the front and Passengers at the back.

The problem is that in case of emergency evacuation on the ground the passenger doors at the front could not be used.

Hence the "hat rack door" just behind the wing which was required, smaller than a passenger door, it was bigger than an over-wing emergency wing.

With these additional doors, the passengers at the back could find their way out.

Jean Pierre.

Thank you JP for correcting me. "Combi's" was the Boeing 747 series

Strange that the cargo was in the front while in the 747 combi, it was in the back.

Nice one Steve, I love to have this in my collection too. Just curious, how come you still have spaces in your cabinet ? Shouldn't it be FULL FULL already? Ha Ha..

IIRC Douglas had a Combi version of the DC-8.

I would also like to share two more inflight models of Qantas 707-338C's. One is VH-EBO with V-jet tail and Qantas 1960's livery. The other is VH-EBT which as you can see had the new 1970's Qantas font but still in red Hybrid colours. Also worthy of note, These engines are polished. I have never seen Inflight200 do polished engines again.

Those two are beautiful Steve! Like the polished engines. I had a corgi 1:144 V-jet 707 (livery as the one on the right) back in the day but sold all Corgi 707's when I started 1:200. Hope one of these will be re released some day. When did they come out mate?
