Default What was the most expensive model you've purchased

I loved the thread on your rarest model, but was wondering what was the most expensive model that you've purchased? Share a pic of it if you want too; you paid enough for it, might as well share it.

1:200 Would be Gemini Jets "Dreamlifter" 747-409LCF G2BOE723.
1:400 Seattle Model Aircraft Company United States Navy C-9B SMA040103, I couldn't figure out why I paid so much for this model, until I figured out it was for charity.
1:400 "non charity" Gemini Jets Seaboard 747-245FSCD GJSBW078

I am trying to find this one. I have one on order with MTS if they ever get around to making it again.

I paid an absolutely stupid amount for the 1:200 ANZ 777 Smaug livery from a collector. Being a crazy LOTR fan I had to find that one come hell or high water and I would do it again.

My most expensive model was the Inflight200 Air Canada 747-100 in delivery scheme, a very early inflight release, it was very hard to come by so top price paid.

Inflight Boeing 747-SP Brannif International: US$ 173, purchased in 02-2011, in Top Gun shop, Tokyo (bought by my daughter, but I paid for it...). On the other hand, I had no shipping costs.

Same for me, back in 2010, but due to circumstances, I sold it, a few months after, along with the entire Herpa Premium and Lufthansa Modell Edition collection, I’ve had at the time... Silly me

Since then, I put the brakes on model collecting spendings and the most I’ve paid for a model in 1:200 scale was no more than $200 [GeminiJets A380 Thai (G2THA423)], pictured below.

Buying these models is like a time stamp for me. When I order online, it’s all a blur; but when I win that auction, or get that confirmation PM on this site, I can remember where I was and what I was doing. Maybe I was on vacation and poolside and my phone was about to overheat; maybe I was at the theatre on lowww brightness. The memories are so thick I have to brush them away from my face.

Most expensive: American Airlines A300 N80084, which was twice as much as I paid for the United Airlines B727 N7295U and my first 1:200 diecast - American Airlines DC-10-30 N143AA.

The most expensive in my near future (I hope): American Airlines 757 N183AN, and KLM B744 PH-BFA. ...I’m on the lookout!

Seems some folks are shy about stating how much they actually paid. I went through a must have period where I was hunting down models and paying some high prices. Highest --- Herpa Premium AA A300. $699. I have several others I paid in the $400 range

I can obvs only speak for myself but 1) it ain't nobody's biznezz how much I pay/paid for a model but mine; 2) when I owned the Herpa Premium KLM (and I also owned the HP ANZ corporate livery) it was sometime between 2007-2009 and I can't even remember how much I paid for groceries yesterday, much less how much I paid for a model 11-13 years ago. I just know these two models are the highest prices I've ever paid.

I totally agree, while it’s not my most expensive model, I too had to have an ANZ B-777 LOTR Smaug. It sits on my desk and reminds me of when Smaug flew me from LAX to AKL.

Honestly,

As a flight student and college student my spending on models is limited but, nonetheless the most I have spent was 165$ USD on a TAP A340-312 that meant a lot to me personally.

For me it was my JC Wings Cathay Pacific 747-400 in old colors (green/white/polished aluminum) was $165. i never buy out of production models from ebay or any store unless they are at or less than full retail (reguardless of scale and rarity). i'm patient, ill wait for one at the right price.

the only times i pre order models (which has only been 5 times) is when i know it'll sell out before it makes it to the stores. i have bought rare models quite some time after thier releases straight from authorized sellers simply by google searching. i only go to ebay if the model has been out of production for some time.

Non diecast: PACMIN Canadian North B737-36Q 1:100
Personally acquired from the source
I have the pleasure of the best seat in the house, when flying on this.

Diecast: IF200 Canadian B747-475 5 Continents 1:200
Sourced from Aviation Megastore in AMS
Late to the party, I jumped on one of the last retailers that had it stocked at the time

At the time of purchase, these were the highest amounts I've dished out for models... Now, they're even more ridiculous and hard to come by.
