Default Latam 777 - Star Wars

Well finally i pulled the trigger on color laser printer and got myself new decal paper. It was ordered from Dr Decal and Mr Hyde in Australia. Coincidentally printer and paper got delivered today afternoon. So i thought why not try something on this $450 investment. Last week i played with inkjet and Tester decal for hours and it turned into nightmare. All i had to do was print on new setup and start immediately cutting them. One more reason for laser printer.

https://drdecalmrhyde.com/shop/super...ers-australia/

This is model is the draft version and i will probably reprint one more time. This run was to test if everything aligns and how easy/tough is this application. Turned out easy-peasy....

And I had blank 77W that i was not able to sell, so might as well make good use of it. Now the pictures.

Now i can go crazy and build model with proper windows and details that i like.

The above model was a test run and i would say it is 60% there. Now I need to refine the image, make sure counters are nice and aligned. No seam lines anywhere, replace the tail, which has inkjet based decal and general tidy up.

Since i have two blank 77W, i will make an extra if someone would like to have one.

Great practice run and the details on your first go are excellent.

I am currently exchanging dialog right now with a 200 scale manufacturer to produce this model and they are weighing the options and are considering it.

What options? JUST MAKE IT! It will be a 100% sell out...

Real tomato ketchup Eddie?
Nothing but the best! "I don't know why they call this stuff hamburger helper. It does just fine by itself, huh? I like it better than tuna helper myself, don't you, Clark?"
"you're the gourmet around here, Ed!"

Seriously...just make it!! Did they not see how the ANA star wars jets sold out like crazy?? More star Wars jets are always welcome, I'm sure of it.

Speaking of....we need to get someone on board for the Virgin 744 Star Wars Galaxy's Edge livery, as well as the United 737s
CdnAir likes this.

I second both of those comments. They would all sell out.

UPDATE

The damn printer lasted for whole of 4 days

I think the thin film melted and got stuck to imaging belt, so it is kaput now. Not sure whose fault it is... The decal vendor says, paper is for laser printer and cannon says, be cautious with coated films. And i also have another opened box of spare ink tanks!! I will return this crap and maybe get its baby brother from eBay for $100, to give it one more try.

Not gonna give up.

And trying to build custom decal, i realized how many photos you have to research, for placing small items, like reg alignment, flag size/alignment, reg number with model type, blank windows, and many other small details. Based on this I now have a bit more appreciation for manufacturers, when they get it right 99.9%. But one time fail is met with constipated groan and disbelief. . To be fair, for some folks, IT IS really hard earned money. Just my rant.
dennypayne and CdnAir like this.

Oh man...that really blows. I'm so sorry to hear about the printer and issues. That is def the spirit to have though...keep going at it! I'm sure it will all pay off in the end. Especially if no manufacturers go through with this model.

For those who can decal, 8aDecs produces this scheme in 1/200 scale. I have a Hasegawa 777-3ER painted and ready to go...
