An AIR FRANCE Caravelle
An AF Caravelle will be available very shortly, photos have already been published on the SOCATEC website, but I don't feel allowed to publish any of these pictures on the forum.
The fuselage will be light gray, just like the real aircraft at the end of its operational life. This is a good choice, that brings some diversity in a collection compared to the other Caravelles we may have in our cabinets. ...but this light gray fuselage is not compatible with the white frames of the cockpit windows which should be bare aluminium. How such a mistake is possible with so many pictures available ? The detail of the airbrakes is guesswork, that means that the research work was equal to zero. Again, a lot of pictures available ... The corogard which covers the wings to protect the fuel tanks should not cover the wing fences. Inflight has taken some shortcuts to have its work as simple as possible to the detriment of accuracy. I have sent an email to SOCATEC explaining what is wrong, I also added a few comments with pictures to explain what the wing of its B 707-320 (Inflight made) should look like. Not sure I will have an answer. A market without any competitor gives Inflight free hand to make the model the way they wish with the level of accuracy they wish, that's something we have already seen in the past ... It does not benefit the collectors. Also, my guess is that the model was not validated by SOCATEC. If you like this model despite its flaws, feel free to buy it. It's take it or leave it. I made my choice. Jean Pierre. |
Re: An AIR FRANCE Caravelle
Jean Pierre,
The wing root/fuselage is wrong on the new SOCATEC Caravelle. This part is also lightgrey on the SOCATEC Caravelle pictures, must be aluminium. Another mistake! |

Re: An AIR FRANCE Caravelle
In my opinion it's their biggest mistake, the entire bottom of the fuselage in light grey looks terribly wrong! The new AF Caravelle lll could have been a winner! Maybe I should apply a coat of aluminium paint myself?
