Here is one of mine. I am building a little micro collection of football /soccer world cup liveries of any airlines world wide. This model I have never seen on line for sale anywhere, only because I was seeking a second one for modifications with the moon belly.

Rarity is hard to determine these days. Most rare would probably be my SM200 USPS 727. I think there are certain people who want it but that exists also because of the small number made, in that definition, it's rare. But other models like the Gemini 200 Delta 727 and American 757 polished can be considered more rare simply because a lot more people want those vs. units made. Then you have the FedEx MD-11 that was pretty hard to find, had a second release, and is again getting harder to find.

Don't know if this counts.. as I've seen them on sale from time to time, but its the

JCWings ANA 747SR Snoopy 1:200 (The only Diecast Snoopy to appear in 1:200 on a 747) I'd love to see the 747-400D versions.

I had been hunting for this model for so long, that by the time I got it, I was too eager and opened it right in the kitchen.

Another one I have is the:

Aviation200 Virgin Atlantic 747-400 Harry Potter 1:200

These are still on sale on eBay and such but for absurd prices which no one has obviously bought it for. I've also seen a lot of Virgin Atlantic 747-400 1:200 collectors surprised on Facebook who have collected all liveries and never knew the Harry Potter one even existed. I am a huge sucker for special liveries and being a huge fan of Wizards, Harry Potter was no exception

Heres the 1:400 Harry Potter version for giggles

I also have the JCWings JAL 747-400D Disney Pink, China Airlines 747-400 Special (Hug & Wish) Livery and a United 757-200 Battleship 1:200 (Which shares the reg of the sister ship of United 93). I also have the Condor Snoopy 767 by JC as well. I also have Wunala V2 which seems to still be on sale with some folks and still available, but one I haven't seen in a while is the JC 747-400 Battleship which I own but rarely see sold when I used to check.

A personal favourite of mine was a special Canadian one as it served a good purpose and showed awareness to a wonderful charity Air Canada was working with. This is the:

GeminiJets Air Canada A319 Kids Horizons livery 1:200. Horizons Enfance / Kids' Horizons is an Air Canada charity that helps children in poverty, and sick children to travel and experience the excitement of flying.

I also have some Gemini200 737s. The United 737-900 Eco-skies, and the Air Canada 737 Max.

Another 1/200 model I have, which sold out quick, and rarely pops up anymore is the

Herpa KLM Fokker 70 Farewell PH-KZU 1:200 I love this livery so much and am a Massive KLM Fan.

Last but not least are these 2 awesome inflight200/JFOX 747-200 models I have. They are the:

inflight200/Jfox British Airways 747-200 LANDOR G-BDXL
inflight200/Jfox Northwest Airlines 747-200 Bowling Shoe N625US With a ribbon logo and named the Desert Storm

I never really noticed how many rare and awesome 1/200 I own and how massive my 1/200 collection has gotten but how tiny it still is compared to my 1/400. I really enjoy 1/200 models a lot and the 1/200 sub forum has been so nice to me in the past! I will love collecting those special rare 1/200 whenever I get the chance. I went on imgur to upload nearly 40 photos so I could reply to this thread

THANK YOU! to whoever got this far. I absolutely love 1/200 but only those special ones!

I think these Herpa models are now hard to find, but whether they are rare I don’t know.

Right? My response is, "Define rare." To me, rare means produced in very limited numbers, not "hard to find." Two very different things. The only rare model I own is the NG BA 757 "Pause to Remember" livery produced for the LGW Gatwick Aviation Enthusiasts' Fair with a limited run of 100.

This is my most rare model, if you can say that, a CALAIR DC-10-10 which I had made through ARD a few years back and at the time, Paul asked me if he could have two others made as this was the first custom 1/200 made off this airline, so that would have been thee in total, as I say that was a few years ago, since then there has been some others made by other collectors doing there own, which look really nice, I wish I had the skill to do my own, would save pounds but as yet never seen any off these on Ebay or for sale... Ps the photos were taken by me at the time I received it, nice to see other people using them for reference.

Here are a few pics of them. I also have 1/72 KLM L1049C in KLM delivery colors. Funny story about the 7 Seas. I was maybe 5 or 6 and my dad who worked for KLM brought home 2 of them, brand new in box.

I thought for sure I'd get one, but he traded it to a neighbor for 4th of July fireworks. For years it was on my dad's dresser and no amount of cajoling or begging would make him part with it.

Then one day out of the blue, after I'd been married for years, he gave it to me. I was shocked and thought maybe he knew he wasn't going to be around or something. But no, he decided that I'd waited long enuf. But fireworks, seriously???

As an aside, never had the sideways pictures until today. But when clicked on should have correct orientation.

I don't know production numbers or anything, but I believe my Phoenix 1:200 Air New Zealand B777-300 "desolation of Smaug" is one of my more hard to find models. I also own the Snoopy and Harry Potter 747s mentioned above.

Agree. Rare to me means limited quantity. Which usually makes the model hard to find. If DIMA is correct the smallest production I saw was 36. My favorite that DIMA shows only 36 were made in 2013. I find it hard to believe Inflight would have only made 36 of these. Wonder if DIMA left off a zero and meant 360. And happens to be one of my absolute favorite liveries.

I also think any of the InflightLE models with LE in the model number are rare and hard to find.

I can attest to this. It took me 3 years of searching to get my hands on one!

Speaking of Air New Zealand, I have a ANZ Pacific Wave 777-200ER made by Sovereign Models that DiMA says there were only 5 made.

I have others that may be considered rare, but they are custom built and I think it should not count(?) My basis for these 3 models is I can't seem to see them anymore on eBay or anywhere. Again, so sorry for the really bad photos. I hope to invest in a good camera soon.

Thanks Tom it is a good subject, and thanks for sharing yours. JP recently posted a lot of rare Air France Models. Hopefully there will be more additions to follow.

Yes it is - and a far better version that the Inflight ones...

This was the Hogan/Herpa/Phoenix number with the only proper certification think I have seen on any model...

The other one that they did two of and I think I only have the one was the Chinese Airlines 727 number.

What I cant remember is whether this then trans morphed into the jet-X 727, then later used by JC or whether these were totally separate issues... its was a long time ago...

The other ones that I recall ( rather than the internet recalling) were the

and...

I guess thousands of models are rare...

Ain't particularly so if you have one..

Hens teeth if you don't...

Do feel that some molds should have been used a bit more

Never seen another of these... ( There will be 50 on ebay next week..)

Some great gems posted here. I love the classic Philippines 747 up thread. I have a couple of rare birds in my collection, but the one I picked as my favorite for now is my Inflight LE 747 in Caledonian livery.

I picked it up early in my collecting days without realizing what a gem it really was. I have never seen another for sale.

Easily my Skyline Northwest Airlink Jetstream 31. The only time I’ve seen this for sale is when I bought it. I also only know of one other collector here that has it as well.

Wow. I have a bunch of Skyline models from when I used to stay at the Sheraton a lot. Never knew they did a Jetstream. Obviously, given the vintage, not as detailed as the later Small World / Bees Models, but still nice.

Given that it's a 19 seater, I'm guessing it's smaller than a Emb-120. I wish that they would make more commuters in this scale. Especially a metroliner. I used to see them all the time at work.

These three are probably my rarest. MD-11 prototype is my #1 model in my collection, next to my FedEx MD-11s

I have that MD-11. Both in 200 and 400 scale. Love that model.

Not sure if I consider anything rare anymore. However, these 3 Japan Airlines Aero Mini models, were removed from their respective boxes and saw daylight for the first time, probably since the 1970s. No where near the quality and intricacies of today's models, but for that era, with the retracting landing gears, it was well done. Aside from the decal yellowing, it's in new condition. Brings back good memories of a bygone era.

From this view, all my models are rare. On one hand, they are made in limited edition, and on other hand, these models are made once.

I think this qualifies as both hard to find and a low production run (but I am not sure the actual count). Took me several years to find one, but it was a must-have for me.

Very nice Electra. I worked AirCal Electra and 737 charter flights out of West Imperial Terminal at LAX. Always loved the Electra.

I guess my rarest Gemini's would be these. Other rare models I should probably include would be the IF200 TWA L-1011 twin stripes in solid titles and maybe the Phoenix Alaska Disney 737's with the exception of Tinkerbell since that one seems to make an appearance frequently.

I guess rarest in terms of numbers would be the SM200 USPS 727-100. I think they only made 20 but I don't know.

There's only supposed to be 48 of these, which was most probably enough... :-)... remember picking another one up for £30 at Kempston..

I have many rare models most are B747's obviously, but my rarest I truly have no idea tbh.

As non B747's go these two Concorde's from Hogan Wings are pretty rare as I was told:

Aérospatiale - BAC Concorde
British Airways "Landor Livery"
G-BOAE "Alpha Echo"
Scale 1:200
Hogan Wings
----------------------------------------
Aérospatiale - BAC Concorde
Air France "Standard Livery"
F-BVFC "Foxt Charlie"
Scale : 200
Hogan Wings
