Default New 777-9X plastic model with folding wingtips?

This apparent new model features folding wingtips! cost a little more than the other 1/200 777-9X model on there. I ordered one. hope it will be a good one!

https://www.boeingstore.com/collecti...able-wing-tips

Anyone got one or know anything about it? I hope it will have the ground nonflex wings

Also it sucks Boeing stores no longer sell the 1/200 737 max 10. still have the max 8 and 9... good thing you can still find a few of those max 10 at affordable price on ebay. but you better get one before they run out if you want one

I wish hogan or limox will release a 787-10 and 737 max 7

Judging from the pics, the wings are flexed. The folded wing tips are not straight up like they should be... no go for me, sure that one of the metal factories will give us a decent 777x in the future.

This is the Skymarks mould with silver engine inlets - they are grey on the Skymarks veersion (see Qatar 779). The wings are foldable , but there is a major mistake as the wings are only foldable on Ground - the wings aren't flexed then.

I have the model and find that its a nice inexpensive placeholder and I have it displayed in flight mode.

There is the ANA 1/200 777-9X red house color with the foldable wingstips and the wings are not in flex. It comes an elavated ground stand for display. I have this one inbound so I cant comment on the quality of it yet.

I took it down off the shelf and off its stand to take a couple photos for you so you could see what it looks like from a few different angles. As I said I display it in flight mode so the flex doesn't bother me and its a great inexpensive placeholder for a house colors 777-9X until someone else comes up with another one.

As for the red house colors, it was for sale IIRC from Aviation Megastore. I dithered too long and they were sold out so I picked one up the other day on eBay from Japan. It shows as an ANA manufacturer but I think the mold is JC Wings however I am not sure. I am a relative newbie to the diecast airliner hobby compared to most everyone else here.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the pics. Is the ANA wingtip in a permanent fold position? are the gears removable?

As for the plastic model, it looks like the wingtips can be unfolded. But are the gears also removable?

Also looks like you need to switch the position of the two elevators since they are pointing downward

No worries! I believe the ANA wingtips are in a permanent folded position as they make this model both in flight and on the ground. I would imagine the version I bought, on the ground, does not have removable gear as it is to be displayed in a static position and not in flight, hence no wing flex.

The wingtips are hinged so they can be folded or unfolded and the gears are fixed.

As previously posted the one I have is made exclusive for ANA by PACMIN under the Hogan banner.. It does not have folding wingtips as they are permanently raised. and we are back to sideways pics too!

Yes that is the same maker as the one I have coming in the house colors, I was not sure as it was not listed in the eBay sale. He had both yours and the one I bought. Nice to know the maker, thanks!

lol..

But seriously though, I dont understand why it's so difficult to do a folding straight wing... skymark already have a mould with working mechanism so all they need to do is have a straight wing made. should be a piece of cake

as for pacmin, their models are just a little too pricey out of my budget. I would maybe consider it if it would have straight wings, movable tips and removable gears (for being the most expensive options, i would expect it to have all the features)... but nope they don't have it either.

So we still don't have anything close to a good or perfect 777-9 with folding wings

I think boeing sent me a defective product. I ordered 2x and both are the same problem with the angled nosegear. ;(

CdnAir, your nosegear looks straight. But are the main gears a little angled out?

The wingtips work as designed. The wings are less angled up at the root and they are not curved like the hogan/limox. So it can almost pass for a ground config.

But this nosegear is unforgivable!!! also suck are my main gears which appears slanted and not straight. And they also don't use the same gears and gear root as the hogan/limox model ;(

So sad because the wingtips actually work quite well! ;(

My nosegear is slightly angled, not so much as yours but the main gears are probably a bit more slanted. I agree that the wing flare isn't that bad.

I did not like the angle of the main gear when I saw it but as I was displaying it in flight mode it isn't really all that noticeable than if it were on the ground.

Honestly for the low price of these and the cool folding wingtips I didn't mind it bad enough not to keep it and for these kind of plastic models I don't expect much to be honest, just a representation good enough to display. Mind you, you are talking to a guy who installed his stabilizers upside down...

I have the same Boeing models from the Boeing store in the 787-8, 747-8i and the 737 Max 9 but I haven't even taken them out of the box yet to examine.

When an all metal model with folding wingtips comes out (not the ANA model with permanently folded wingtips) or possibly a Herpa design, in this livery, I will probably sell this one or give it to a young collector who is just getting started in the hobby.

I am just curious, your location is Miami..You are blessed to have a very nice Boeing Gift Shop right on N.W.36th street with a great selection of models right at your disposal. Why dont you go there and inspect the model in person versus mail order??

I am hoping someone will make one with working folding tips with straight wings and gears up and down. That would be the best one. hope one comes soon!

You should take them out and put them together. While at it, you need to get the MAX 10 asap if you don't already have it. They used to be on Boeng site but are no longer sold by Boeing. That means there's definitely a possible discontinuation and shortage coming. They are still available on ebay at reasonable price:

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fro...2F200+concorde

I believe at this point these hogan/limox max 10 are the ONLY 1/200 max 10 available. It's like the 767-400 where to this date, the only 1/200 767-400 i am aware of is made by hogan and is very hard to find nowaday. Same with 1/200 A330-800 with Skymarks Kuwait being the only one seems to be made but has now also been discontinued recently and is also very hard to find!

Thanks for the link. I will keep it in mind and put it on a watch. By coincidence I have a 1/200 787-10 house colors arriving today or tomorrow by Fedex from Japan. If I dont like that one I will probably grab the 10 from this seller.

Edit- mine is the official Boeing one which I think is made by Skymarks and matches the 737-Max8, 747-8i and the 787-8. The box is different and the stand is the nice wooden stand in the Boeing box, unless for Boeing the box and stand are different than the ones in the ebay link?

I always get the Hogan or Limox ones if i can since they have removable gears compared to skymarks (if both hogan/limox and skymarks make a model)

However, as we all know how inactive hogan/limox has become, sometimes you don't have any other choices or not much other choices so yeah, i have a few 787-10 also coming. One is from skymarks. the other is from herpas

Skymarks 777X converted to wheel up. This has a wifi dome and reg number with the wings less curved up compared to the limox one. unfortunately the gears are not exchangeable with the hogan one.... shame on skymarks...lol...

I almost want to just leave it alone since it's made almost to be in the ground config due to straighter wings and folding wingtips.... But i just had to do it for the heck of it...lol.... that's the good thing when you order two at the same time....

Nose gear tilt also easily fixed thanks to skymarks not really gluing it in tight (which is why it was tilted initially).... I just wish skymarks just leave the gears off and let us glue in if we like. that would save us and them a lot of time....lol...
