Default AN-22 Western Models

I was contacted by a collector who had this one put away in their closet forever. Upon further review when opening,,, all the gears were ripped off and the nose gear was missing too. It was offered to me "as is" for a salvage price of just $100.00 shipped with original box. As you can see repairs were done and I added a not so original nose gear and VOILA a suitable AN-22!

Ironically, there is a similar one on ebay mint right now at $492 with 1 day left.

When watching this short video crank up the volume!!

BTW, I would love to have this one converted to the current ADB colors of white and yellow. If there are any customizers out there who would like to take on the project, please feel free to contact me..

Beautiful and a great catch. I am waiting for that same ADB livery that Sergei remodeled for me but with the PCM resin version. Too bad he's in the Ukraine and shipping that heavy monster to him will probably set you back triple the original price you paid for the model. And that is only for one way postage + not sure if it arrives at all. If you find someone that repairs/builds/repaints and decals stateside please share info.

Nice one.

As usual mine was bought complete but came with some detached wheels. They are very fragile, as are most western models.
Used epoxy resin to repair.
*fortunate enough to have seen this, An22, and the AN225 at East Midlands UK.

I remember this model. It is very nice and is very heavy for it's size.

Always a pleasure to see an original WM. Nice job with the repair work.

These “lumps” do go for a tidy sum. Hard to believe this was first released in 2001. Being a later WM, it benefited from an improved gloss
paint finish. Weighing nearly 1kg, it’s not surprising the landing gear can have issues!

Great model, I am very glad to have it too, with a TU 114 and other Russian aircraft made by WM.

Nice catch Russ. Back in the mid 90s, whilst working for G.H, a ground handling company, I was fortunate to handle this aircraft during its first ever visit to Stansted (EGSS). On its departure, I kid you not, it bought most of the work at the airport to a standstill, with a huge number of staff from different companies, as well as ATC and the fire service on the apron. Entering this behemoth via the doorway on the port undercarriage fairing, clutching the necessary departure paperwork, it put me in mind of a giant submarine. There was a huge door with a big wheel on it, which when closed separated the flight deck and crew quarters from the main cargo hold which was unpressurised. Standing by our pushback tug the sound of those probs sent weird vibrations through my body. Walked out onto the taxiway with pushback crew and the two Antonov engineers, even wearing ear protectors, it was a very noisy place to be. With the tow bar and engineers safely on board, the An22 slowly journeyed to the runway. I shall always remember the sound of that take off! Happy days

Neil.

Nice repairs and addition Russ.

You guys can try Chuck at [email protected] to customize. He sells on Ebay and has sold stuff occasionally here I believe. He is located in the Chicago area. I have a 1:400 Chelsea Rose 744, 1:400 WP 737 Stardust Oki, and a 1:200 Avensa 727-200 I posted in a thread sometime ago.

...bad experience I'm guessing? He definitely works on his own timeline and if he is busy in his regular job you could be waiting a year or more! I think now is a good time as he is at home and not traveling.

He does do nice work when you finally get it back!

I know this is a 1/200 thread but I would like to share these photos of the inside of this beautiful beast that I took at Speyer last year.
