Default Two new arrivals AF and KLM

Hi,

Two new herpa arrivals wich I am very glad to have received, the Air France Airbus A350-900 F-HTYB Bordeaux. Nice to see that AF returns to giving their Aircraft names. This plastic herpa mold is the best plastic mold out there imo.

Second up is the metal KLM CityHopper Fokker 70 PH-KZE. A very nice model wich I wanted for quite some time. Hope they will do the fokker house colors 70 and 100 too.

Third up is a comparison between the old cityhopper colors and the new Lufthansa colors. The simularities are stunning

Enjoy!

I have the GeminiJets 200 version of the AF A350-900. Nice to see that Herpa has added more detail to its plastic 1/200 models, with antennas on the fuselage.

I wasn’t really thrilled about the A350 until I saw the Air France one at CDG. The revised livery goes so well with it, I like the enlarged Air France titles, and the blue winglets with the Hippocampe add a dash of color. A very elegant and modern-looking aircraft, probably the most beautiful A350 out there!

I am amazed at the fit and finish of the AF A350. It's indistinguishable from diecast IMO.

This one is very good, if herpa does all it's plastic molds like this then they have a real cheap alternative because it is half the price of metal.

I too like the revised Air France livery, looks stunning on the 350.

Love that Air France Airbus A350-900 even being from Herpa Wings PVC models I do agree that they with Hogan Wings have the best molds for PVC models, definitely worth checking out if on a low budget, the advantage of PVC is light weight and much less strain when using the landing gear for displaying them and the much lower cost as well. I have a Herpa Wings QF B747-438 the VH-OJB Okay the JC Wings version destroys it but still not a bad model yet the Herpa Wings LH B747-830i the D-ABYL Hessen is a masterpiece, just like your AF A350-900 here.

Herpa Wings is really worth it if you prefer PVC models over diecast the differences are surely minimal as looks go, of course diecast is nicer if going to look closely but heck if PVC is good enough for you they will save you lots of money in the end.

But yea being used to Diecast I can't go PVC anymore, mainly when it comes to classics that have polished bellies and such, that will be hard with PVC to show at similar qualities, even I know there is chrome paint, but the chance PVC yellows over time is also larger than that of diecast.

it all compensates in the end.

Many thanks Tom for posting these pictures and thank you for your interest in my airline.

I pre ordered this A 350 some time ago when it was announced and to avoid non essential movements, Aviation Megastore is keeping it stored for me.
I also ordered the KLM DC 4, too good to be missed.

I have plastic, die cast and resin models, to be quite honest, it is sometimes very difficult to make the difference.
Who can say from these pictures that the model is plastic ?
As long as it is accurate and appropriately detailed, I have no preference.

By the way, PVC does not yellow if painted, I have an old Herpa A 300 which is still pure white and I think Herpa has learnt the lesson.

Ah well it's good they learned from that then, might be considerable choice them for those modelers that want to save coin and still get a masterful quality model

And plastic will yellow if you let the suns' deadly UV rays at it, hard to beat that sadly.
https://www.polymersolutions.com/blo...c-turn-yellow/

The ultra-violet spectrum of light doesn't play well with most polymers — unless, of course, you add light stabilizers, but we'll get to that in a moment. Exposure to UV radiation can cause plastics to change color (turn yellow), crack, break, shatter or even melt!

But if Herpa applied light stabilizers in their paints this can help a lot yes.

Sorry my A 300 is not Herpa but Hogan ...

But I have a Herpa Premium Emirates A 300 which is yellow for the plastic which was unpainted and pure white for the parts which were painted.

For those who are willing to try and customize, here's a cool video about using Molotow Liquid Chrome. It works great on diecast and plastics too! This is a great alternative to the more pricey metal models.

Nice pictures Tom,

Getting my Fokker F-70 saturday. I have a F-28 in the same livery, made in The Philippines years ago. I wonder how they compare....

The Lufthansa - KLM Cityhopper similarity is almost plagiarism

Thank you guys for the nice comments. @ Jean Pierre, of course I like Air France, iconic airline and livery. Speaking of the klm DC4, what a little gem she is! Never saw a better polished finish on a model. What a mold! Here some pics;

All beauts. I preordered the DC-4 as all the pics I've seen are stunning. Will add that to my KLM 50s collection of DC-7C, CV340, DC-6B, and Super G Connie.

I like the new Air France livery. Especially on the A380 and B773ER.

Nice additions Tom, the DC-4 looking good and reminding me of the KLM 100th short video of the flight attendants. A great addition to your fleet

No problem mate. The new mold of the DC4 is very welcome for the fleet collectors. Many liveries to be done.

It is a nice idea for Herpa to first produce its DC 4 with the liveries of the airlines having reached or about to reach their hundredth anniversary.

Will pre order the QANTAS too.

Thanks Tom for the info.

I hope so, we had 53 DC 4s / C54s operated from 1946 to 1973.

I remember flying on a Northwest DC-4 as a very young child. Leaned against the window at one point just as the plane began banking. I thought it was me that cause the plane to bank.

What's not to like about that DC-4? Everything looks right about that release. And Herpa does do a lovely job with the polished finishes, but I'm afraid to say, my poor little AF Viscount has almost tarnished to smoke grey. And it too was a cracker when I bought it about 10 years back.

I love the look of the new AF livery on the A350 as well, but in confidence—it looks just as crisp on my Gemini AF 777-200. That said, Herpa did do a very respectable job with their AF A350. Worth a second look, says this diecast guy.

I have to agree with a few here, the new AF livery is arguably the smartest looking livery today. I find it VERY contemporary, elegant, and French.

There's just one thing: windows should have been oval........ Hopefully Herpa can correct this with future releases.
