that TWA has literally been one of my most wanted models from Gemini for literally a decade and have had it preordered.
Edit: glad to hear those wing stripes are accurate.

Question Re: Gemini 200 May Releases

Wondering when April 2020 releases will come. Anyone have any predictions?

Pre-Ordered the TAP A310, looking forward to it.

I was waiting for a very well known Canadian critic to prematurely chime in with another wrong rant about another mess up, but I'll spare him the trouble. The stripe is correct it was how it was flown at the very end of its life. Numerous overhead shots of it in the dessert support this.

Dang, that’s bizarre. Cool to see it’s accurate, but still looks weird when most were parallel from what I remember. Thanks for the clarification.

TWA used those black stripes to determine ice formation on the wings. They helped a lot at night as well. It’s old school but way cool to me.

I'm with ya on that, even though its accurate, it just looks weird to see them that way. I wonder if whoever applied them to that plane (the real plane) goofed that time since pretty much every other plane had them parallel to the fuselage. I'm just being nit picky, but would have been cool if GJ picked one with straight stripes.

If they're tampos, then they should be able to be erased with a bit of non-acetone nail polish remover. The question is, are there any other details that would be erased as well by doing so. I agree that the stripes are off-putting and draw your attention to them. I can accept the Mad Dog's parallel lines just enough to let them be, but I'm considering getting rid of them on this 727. Bad move, Gemini.

Why is it a "bad move" if angled wing stripes are accurate for the particular aircraft from which the model is patterned?

I don't understand it, either. If you don't like the placement of the wing stripes either: 1) buy the IF200 version with its mould issues; or 2) put the model on an upper shelf where you can't see the tops of the wings.

I personally think it's pretty cool. Something out of the norm and different.

I guess for me it’s just the fact that I honestly think in real life they were applied wrong to that plane when as far as I can tell every other plane had them parallel to the fuse. I will have this plane on display next to several other TWA aircraft and it’s gonna be the oddball for sure. Obviously we are talking about model airplanes so it’s hardly a huge deal, but I guess if it came to it finding a donor GJ 727 without the stripes, or the latest paint scheme TWA 727 which does have the straight stripes and swap wings would be doable. In the end I applaud GJ for the accuracy though, just wish they would have chosen to replicate any one of the many other 727’s in the fleet with straight racing stripes haha.

I agree that a TWA twin-stripe looks odd with the diagonal icing strips, but if it's accurate, then that's all that matters for this particular release. The truth is that there was a lot of variation in the basic twin-stripe livery over the years. Not on the level of say, Pan Am, but enough to keep you guessing. I myself would prefer the non-strip plus black anti-glare visor version, but at least we're not getting the hollow-titles like they chose for the last DC-9 release! They can always put out another one later, especially if this one sells like I think it will. I can't wait to put this 722 alongside my 762 where it belongs.

Let's be honest, Gemini will not be releasing another TWA 722. Getting them to do anything is like pulling teeth, and they do some stupid **** like this? Who the hell is the person in charge of final decisions? Whoever they are, they either don't have a clue as to what the majority wants, or they're trying to be clever by choosing the one plane out of hundreds that was "different".

This is why my InFlights vastly outweigh my Geminis. InFlight at least knows what the true collector wants.

I hope this satisfies your insatiable desire to understand my feelings.

Oh no, what’s happened here.. accurately crooked stripes, true collecting, replacing wings, bright reds.. And to think, the Gemini 727 could be considered the safest bet around!

The silver corogard inspire panels will come off too if you try to remove the stripes. The angled stripes, while accurate, really break up the lines of the livery. I'll pass on this one. I do like the way Gemini has updated the printing and gear -- looks great!

While I do admit that Gemini has the best 727 mould, I'm just disappointed in their decision to be so unbelievably dumb. I'll have to learn to live with this bastard child of a plane.

As for the stripes on the TWA wings... Gemini really surprised me also awhile back when they released the NAL722 Sunking. the website pics showed the release with a more desirable corrogard than the actual release. although it was accurate for the few final years, IMHO, it would have been so much better if it were released as they advertised. but better not bitc# too much or GJ will shelve the 727 moulds again for another 5 years!

Yeah, I got my tracking on Friday 5/8. Nevada to Illinois, so hopefully within a week.
I just took delivery of an InFlight a couple days ago that shipped from the U.K. a month ago. It arrived in Chicago weeks ago and was just sitting there forever. This COVID ****e is having a huge impact on non-essential goods.

The USPS is being the USPS as usual but I have yet to receive a late UPS or FedEx package even though they suspended their guarantees weeks ago. The USPS on the other hand routinely has a problem getting a package from Atlanta to the suburbs even before COVID. In fact, one of our packages last week said it arrived at the local post office and then 3 days later ended up at the post office at the next town over and then took another 3 days to get back but that's another story.

I'm still waiting for a package (not an airplane model) that was shipped from Australia on 4th April. The last tracking shows it was processed through Melbourne on 20th April. I may be moving to London at the end of this month so I'm growing concerned.

The USPS is a well-oiled machine. I love using their services. They are the cheapest, best option for me.
The negativity that you feel is not the fault of the agency itself. They have been, and continue to be impacted by the Republican party. This is no secret, but is a topic for another day.

I can relate, I was on a roll in February having received two separate ebay plane purchases from Australia with arrival here on the East Coast in just 2 weeks. Now my latest April 7th purchase has not been updated since April 23rd leaving Brisbane....My luck has run out..

Totally agree. Too bad GJ does not pay much attention to classic european 727 liveries.

Nice looking model, Gemini has done a great job with the printing and landing gear on this one!

Same here; just pulled mine out of the mailbox! Almost perfect printing and shaping, etc. Even came with the new, much improved narrow-body stand.

The colors are correct, same as my 767-200 for those who were worried about the overexposed product photo.

Apparently the plane had the exact wing stripes as the Gemini model reflects during the last days. Here is a photo of the real aircraft.

It has been awhile since I have seen a 727 in picture or in person of course, but what sticks out are the wings. Never really noticed, until I saw these pictures, that they were so swept back. That thing must have hauled ***. It just looks like it did.

Nice looking bird.
