Default AC200 Saul Bass -61

Under the radar release? ps: seems like this particular mould also ditched on the floor aswell before being painted (look at the nose).

Looks okay to me, but my aging eyesight is getting like Stevie Wonder's! Pretty soon I'll need a braille model...can market as Helen Keller models!

There are also two japan airlines dc8 and a Pan american connie white top announced, please look at aviation megastore. Downside on the new releases is that the connie is 20 euro more expensive then previous releases and the dc8 even 30!! That's a big difference.

The Japan airlines models are last months releases. the new PAA connie and the Saul Bass DC-8 are at the same previous price at a US retailer near me.

I just received this model, mould is great, but my UNITED titles and registration numbers are italicized on both sides. Anyone else's? Hopefully mine is a fluke and I can return it for a replacement. I'll wait to get some feedback.

Pics...Just realized it was missing the antenna behind the cockpit and a paint scratch under the starboard reg. Hopefully I can do an exchange and keep my fingers crossed the next one looks a bit better. It's still a must have for me.

Yes, the tail printing is crooked as well. For some reason, this didn't bother me as much as the fuselage titles and registration numbers! Waiting for a reply from Aeroclassicsdirect/NORPAC, but they appear to be sold out of the UAL DC-8-61, hopefully a replacement can still be sourced!

If you can't get a replacement I could live with the minor crooked printing as you mention. The scuff under reg. may buff out with a little car polish on cotton swab. Antenna can be found or they could send you one. I know this doesn't really matter when expecting a nice sought after example for your collection and is disappointing/discouraging.

I only added the JAL as I knew it would sell out fast and haven't added the others. May grab a few more releases of the DC-8-61 if at a show and available so I can inspect. Did not want too many projects on my hand unless at a reduced price and did not want to get into model building/repair.

Retailers for the most part don't inspect these things. There was an Ebay listing for a JAL from a retailer and I noticed the photo showed the top antenna missing. I contacted the seller to see if the plane in the photo was the one for sale. It was and he said he would check and had spare antenna in case it was missing.

All good points John and I am fully prepared to scratch build an antenna. I'd rather not, if I can do a simple exchange. Still waiting on a reply from NORPAC. I will say, I was impressed at the shipping speed from Aeroclassicsdirect.

Good to know re shipping speed. AK has always come through in the past with spare parts when needed if a replacement plane is not available.
