Thanks man! Yeah hard to resist, but have not ordered the JAA. Wanted to wait to see this one. Now will order the JAA when the other retailers get it!

I hear ya re space. Thinking of putting the house on the market and moving to the Western side of town on a bigger plot of land so I can have a separate man cave building for my collection!

That forward antenna got v-e-r-y short and that box art depicts the -70 version in the last picture, but it's a really good looking model.

NICE!! Mine are arriving Tuesday.

Compared to the photo of a JAA on JetCollector's website, your DC-8's antenna does look like it was cut a bit. Interestingly, doing an image search of JAA DC-8s on the web, looks like JAA DC-8s also sported the more familiar longer and "pointier" antennas at some point too.

Thanks for the comments guys! Yeah I noticed the antenna, but not a deal breaker and easy fix if it starts to get to me. Also noticed in my cell phone pics the rain sills over the door look incomplete, but are in fact all intact. Camera just didn't pick-up the fine lines.

Enjoy yours Harvey!

Wonder if the pic on the box is some foreshadowing of what may be coming in the future!?

From that angle, looks just about the same as the JAA on JetCollector's website. That's the only reference I can find on the web right now. This last photo of yours really shows how nice this model looks!

Thanks Harvey! Yeah, I am ecstatic over it!

The other photos were from slightly above instead of next to the plane.

I found these for comparison...

...I once owned 3 Aero Mini JAL DC-8-61s. Enjoyed them, sold them before the market dropped, now others that wanted it badly get to enjoy them! That is what it is all about!

Here is a pic of 2 of the 3 displayed among much rarer (I know you love this word) Aero Mini's. These are all now in 2 world class Aero Mini collections in the US once I sold mine off! Took a year to find a couple diehard collectors to cherish this stuff and honor Dr. Metchick's legacy. One also has the company photos, remaining paperwork, and both have samples that I personally bought from Dr. Metchick the founder of AM:

Now Russ, I enjoy the Royal Nepal Airlines 757-200 and Air Zaire 747-100 customs you once enjoyed and sold to me! This is what makes the hobby fun! Most of the time for me it is the search or unique item that pops up from time to time!

Good thing about the old DC-8s.... you didn't have problems with passengers behind you repeatedly hitting your reclined seatback!

Thanks Crownvic! Anytime re posting pics. If you or anyone else wants more pics posted just let me know.

Yep was hard to part with, but when you continually walk by it and no longer notice it or enjoy it, then it is time to let others enjoy them. Honestly the long time quest, research, and befriending the man that created these that many of us enjoyed in our early days of collecting was the best part for me! Met many collectors along the way and traveled near and far to amass this collection that took years. A friend and collector in NJ has the bulk of this collection and a friend and collector in TX has the sister of a sample and the Qantas 747 that the NJ collector already had. At times I miss the collection, but glad others are now cherishing them. In an odd way it was a burden to have this that is hard to explain. I still have the pictures to look at when the urge hits me.

So I just received the IF 747 stand from Hong Kong for the awesome Air Zaire 747 that is now displayed in the spot where the Aero Mini's were!

Thanks Gold Leader! Got it from Hong King and is the IF200 cradle style with the "Boeing 747" printed on base. The Air Zaire is done on the IF mould so the stand was a perfect fit!

JAL I am very pleased with!

The windshield look weird.
Seems printed a bit too downward.

I purchased it from EZtoys shortly after receiving their new release e-mail. They sold out of this and the JAA in about half an hour! I'm sure other retailers will be getting these as EZtoys seem to get these before anyone else in the US!
