Great models, thank you for posting.

The little Caravelle on the left would be great in the 1/200 scale.

Yes, waiting for Russian classics but I am waiting for 25 years. Il18 and Il62 would be great.

Amazing news!

For those young'uns who were not here in 2012, Herpa announced Cubana as the first IL-62M release, part #555425. Initial photo from the Nuremberg Toy Fair showed a mostly plastic prototype. It was finally cancelled in 2016. Can anyone tell if the above model is metal or plastic?

Hopefully Herpa IL-62M.V2 will be produced, so many liveries that can be done.

Let the wish lists begin!

Herpa is a German word that means "pulling", as in "we're just pulling your leg" when used as a verb to demonstrate Russian airliners especially an IL-62. "Aussehen! Es ist ein 1/200-Modell von IL-62 und IL-18. Hahaha, wir HERPAhen nur dein bein" (Look! it's a 1/200 model of Il-62 and Il-18. Hahaha, we're just pulling your leg).

Avia Boss do a very nice IL 76 although hard to get. Also liking their An26.
I think there is a connection between Herpa and Avia Boss.

Here is a Video showing the Il-62 better. I hope they reduce the dimensions of the cockpit and retool the cone ontop the tail a little. They better should have shown the other moulds, instead of talking that much.

Fantastic! Finally something to look forward to.
The engines seems to be a little over sized. Hopefully they make not the same mistake as with the 154 engines nr 1 and 3.

Looking forward to see more photos.

Hopefully the Transavia Caravelle on the picture is a Caravelle SE-210 VIR although I prefer the latest Transavia livery without the painted engines. Anyway, first the United VIR!
Il-18: Interflug, Lot or Malev 70/80's livery
IL-62: Aeroflot, CSA, Interflug or Tarom 70/80's livery.
As seen at Amsterdam/Schiphol from 1975 until they disappeared early nineties!

Not nitpicking but I thought IL62 cockpit section was same as the IL18.

Does't appear in the pictures - although the Photo angles are difficult to tell

Oh yes, Il18 at last from one of the mainline manufactures!
Hoping for Aeroflot, both standard blue cheatline and the red Polar Division.
Have been waiting for years for this.

It does look the same on the video, but the camera angle on the photo does make it difficult to see accurately.

you can get a limox/lupa 1/200 beluga xl from airbus shop for 80 euro or ebay for $78+shipping. It has opening forehead cargo door and removable landing gears. I have it personally and it's not bad

Although not Herpa - pre orders for several Il-62s 1/200 are available on Aviationmegastore site:
https://www.aviationmegastore.com/ca...ebox-1060.html
They are listed under Whitebox brand, made of plastic, and include Aeroflot/KLM old cs, and 2 variations of last cs (one with Olympic Carrier titles). I wonder whether this is somehow conneted with Herpa, or their own mould?

I noticed some of the Russian planes AVM recently posted for sale or preorder in WhiteBox use the 6 digit Herpa part number that begins with the number 5 and use the current clear plastic Herpa stand. Maybe Herpa has some licensing issues and is going nondescript for a manufacturing title.

I have a Historic Models Aeroflot Il-62 but I’ll probably pick up one of these to check out the quality.

I'd be disappointed if these are the IL-62's being released by Herpa give the eye witness account above, but given the Herpa part number, hmmmm.
I know most Herpa TU-154's are metal, but couple of plastic Aeroflot TU-154's were released for the Russian market.
Maybe this will be the same strategy with the IL-62.

Just ordered the CSA il18 from Germany, as with the Balkan version. This has been available for weeks and UK still appears to not have any in stock.

Germany is faster and cheaper than UK. So just given up with the likes of ARD AMS Airspotters et al.

BTW is IL62 Resin or metal?

That's not surprising given that herpa is in germany.

There are a few exceptions. The herpa cargolux masked stuffs were avail to cargolux in lux first and exclusive for several months before anywhere else then comes US with germany availability surprisingly late.

Don't know what happened exactly but this model seems to have been sold out within a few hours once it arrived in Europe?

A few of them popped up on eBay and got sold immediately, AMS also has also removed it from the webshop after it quickly sold out. A little bit disappointing but oh well... I'm more thrilled about the upcoming Aeroflot release anyways...

Model is looking good so far (nose section looks a bit funky though but still a beautiful overall recreation). I wonder if Herpa is paying royalty to Air Koryo...

The mould cannot be done much better imho. ONE issue: the pax doors are too flat / too wide.

I am not an IL-62 expert or very knowledgeable in 1/200 (I collect mainly 1/400), but how do people feel about the radome/nosecone area? It might be a matter of photo angle, but it looks a bit long/pointy from some shots?

Happy Collecting!

I am a bit surprised that the il-62 is actually die cast. Just about all of the 1/200 herpa i got are plastics. Excellent plastics too!

I actually think the nose is very good, especially compared to the Ukraine made one. I love the model and find it a fantastic addition to tge Air Koryo shelf in my Russian collection!!

Herpa Il18 CSA OK-PAH arrived this week, along with a Gemini BA Embraer 170.

I think if there was a "Mould of the year" I would vote this

I agree, the Il-18 looks fantastic. Herpa really did a great job on this one. I'm hoping for more post-soviet models from the 90's as I prefer this period over the 60's and 70's which the first two releases (Balkan, CSA) came from. Looking forward to the Malev release which is due in the next few weeks.

Just received mine. Can confirm the overall look is excellent, cockpit windows could need minor adjustments in my opinion - otherwise a very convincing recreation of the original. Surprisingly heavy, feels solid and sturdy.

Was not keen on this korean livery as I'm not in any way connected to korea or its culture (in fact I couldn't care less about Asia) but the long waiting for a model of this specific airframe made me want to grab the initial release of it. Maybe a candidate for a sale later on once the interesting liveries get released...
