Default Inflight200 Qantas 747-438ER VH-OEG

In her splendid delivery colours VH-OEG 747-438ER, this model looks as graceful as the day she arrived on the 22nd of December 2002.

The sun is set to go down on VH-OEF operating QF009 SYD-LAX FINAL FLIGHT 20th Feb 2020. Here is VH-OEG - Thanks to Inflight200 this is the only 747-438ER released so far in diecast in stunning 1984-2006 Qantas colours. Enjoy. It was finally repainted it the 2007 Roo scheme in 2013 and finally given a name " PARKS" (NSW town that had coms with NASA on first moon landing in fact all missions that left Earth).

Very nice. Is that a pinhole dent behind the rear door? (Pictures 3 and 5)

Yes but I zoomed right in to get these shots. To be honest, barely noticeable to naked eye. She is a beauty and grateful to have her.

Two more shots for you. As the last six Qantas 747-438ER's head off into the sunset

Hey nice find Steve

And I notice this one uses the Spirit of Australia Livery which was used from 1984 to 2006
Same livery that my QF B747-238B the VH-EBQ has which was named City of Bunbury, also from Inflight 200 btw.

Which is this beauty:

Here it stands with my QF B747SP-38 the VH-EAA City of Gold Coast - Tweed:

Agreed, it certainly wouldn’t put me off. Other than Wunala and Nalanji, I only have the original Inflight VH-OJF but now I am on the hunt to see if I can find a few more to keep them company.

Great collection.

Amazing collection of QANTAS fleet airplanes!

Wow, I didn’t know that Inflight200 released this particular 744 model!
What a gold treasure, you’ve got there!...

It’s sad to see the 747 go. Very soon these beauties will be forgotten
Qantas should consider replacing their A380’s fleet with the honourable 747-8’s

I’ve attached two pictures of the actual QANTAS 744 (VH-OEG) “Parkes”, as its resting and being looked after by some maintenance ground crew, at Melbourne Airport (pictures taken in February 2019).
A memorable nostalgic moment, hence why I took these pictures.

Great model. I flew on Parkes between Sydney and Santiago some years ago.

The A350 and 787 replacement will not be the same as the 747.

Nothing can replay the one true Queen of the Skies, the one and only legendary Boeing 747 Jumbo Jet is by far irreplaceable.
They were made to last NASA's SOFIA B747SP-21 gives the perfect example these will be used to throughout 2035

Considering their age of roughly 42 years at this point, personally I don't think you'll see many aircraft last that long Boeing B-52 Stratofortress is an other great example of Joe Sutter's ingenious work

The B747-838 that would be if going for the B747=8i, that would of been a far smarter choice, they are faster and their range is much greater, they can also fly on 100% bio fuel's, a Combi version of the B747-8i would of been nice as well then companies like KLM & Mayalisa would of had interest for those as well.

The old name for the Boeing 747-8i was Boeing 747-500X, it was named the B74-8 due to the same tech that was used in their Boeing 787 Dreamliner series and same type of engines etc.
The B787 series might be one I might reconsider getting but still they are by far not as graceful and elegant left alone meorable as the B747 series them self.

Im confused, I thought the last QF 747 to LAX was last fall, the one that is now going to be an engine test bed used on test flights for Rolls Royce????

Real tomato ketchup Eddie?
Nothing but the best! "I don't know why they call this stuff hamburger helper. It does just fine by itself, huh? I like it better than tuna helper myself, don't you, Clark?"
"you're the gourmet around here, Ed!"

Hi Russ,

Please see here for more info. --> DAC thread Qantas 747-438 VH-OJU - Goodbye

That was the last RR powered 747-438. QANTAS was the only airline to puchase the 747-400ER passenger offering from Boeing. Qantas purchased six 747-438ER's and there leaving this year. VH-OEF being the first. Full of Qantas Frequent flyers burning their points on it's last flight SYD-LAX in a few weeks. The remaining 6 are

VH-OEE
VH-OEF
VH-OEG
VH-OEH
VH-OEI
VH-OEJ
