Default New Display Case

Found this in the clearance section of a local furniture store and one of the salesman said it was special ordered then cancelled so I got it for 1/4 of the original price. I was surprised my lady let me get it It fits as many planes as 5 Detolfs (without extra shelves). I want to contact the manufacturer and see if I can buy extra shelves.

Your local glass shop can make the shelves for you, they just need the dimensions.

Nice find.

And as the guy above said, you can get extra glass locally or order some online from anyone. We had to replace some glass in our china cabinet after we moved. Very easy to order.

They look the ‘business’! Awesome displays, the mirrored back makes all the difference. Thanks for sharing.

Impresive cabinet, is it with a sliding front? It looks very like the one you can get at Costco in the UK.

So do I great stuff. Congratulations on your new cabinet and your fleet. This is what collecting is all about. They were never meant to be caged in their boxes! Watch the top light though. I guess you put it on for the photo shoot.
Thanks for sharing your collection.

That is the way to do it! These types of curio cabinets are great for displaying. Pulaski of Pulaski Virginia is one of the many mfgs. of these style cabinets and Costco carries them this time of year. Other times of the year you can get them in their catalog.

Easy to get additional shelves. If going to a glass shop make sure you get the same thickness and get the edges finished/sanded. Also get double strength glass. Some of these cabinets come with tempered glass and are very expensive to have made and not necessary. Usually cheaper to get the shelves from mfgs. if still available I have found.

What a great find, well done. What I especially like is that there are no door frames down the middle of the front. That bothers me to no end with my cabinet.
And as others have mentioned, fantastic collection.

Oh yeah, there's a few missing, I'd love one of the Susan G. Komen 777 samples and the Veterans 757 as well!

I agree, the mirror does look really nice and gives a good view of the tails

Yes, the front slides to either side but only opens about half so it was difficult to put the shelves in as well as the widebodies

Thanks! Yeah I am concerned about the light and am looking for an LED one I can swap in that doesn't give off nearly as much heat.

Thanks for the tip about double strength and tempered glass. I've had glass cut in the past and it was shockingly expensive but I don't remember if I got tempered. I'll have to check Costco and see what they have.

I just checked out the Pulaski display cabinet here at Costco in the UK, exactly the same £449.89, ouch. You got a bargain.

Watch the weight with those 1/200 models on the longer glass shelves. I noticed mine bowing a bit, shored them up with 1" dowels and chair leg pads. Gives me great piece of mind!

I swapped the incandescent bulb for a whiter brighter LED and it makes a world of difference and should be a lot cooler for the models. I forgot to take a picture so I'll post one later.

Thanks! I'm partial to the Astrojet livery myself but I know a lot of folks love the classic pre-merger polished livery

Thanks for the heads-up! I've got the one big 747-100 near the side and fortunately AA doesn't have any A380s I'll keep an eye on the shelf with all of the widebodies.
