Default Another inflight200 Jan2020 release Qantas 707

Another very interesting Inflight200 Jan2020 release is this Qantas IF701QF120P VH-EBH. "City of Darwin". This was the first 707-138B that rolled of Boeing's production line as a 707-138B and not retro fitted like the previous seven 707-138's delivered to Qantas to the "B" status. This was Qantas's first 707-138B. Boeing had this aircraft registered as N-93134 fitted out in Boeing house titles "Boeing 707 Turbo fan" for test flights, which I would also buy if Inflight ever release one.

What was unique is the interim livery applied for it's delivery flight. Or experimental livery if you like. It was not delivered like it's previous 7 sisters with two horizontal bars on the tail with Qantas title in between them. The Qantas management approved the V-Jet livery (noting the Boeing House livery), soon after this aircraft's arrival in Sydney, it was repainted to the first V-Jet livery. A very rare livery is this interim livery indeed! I'll be snapping this one up. Thanks Inflight200.

An additional brief note:

V-Jet is a marketing name which was introduced by Qantas soon after the introduction of the Boeing 707-138B with turbofan engines.
The "V" stands for the Latin word "vannus" which translates literally as "winnowing basket" or more loosely, "a device for blowing the grain" or "a fan". Hence V-Jet denotes Fan Jet. The first Qantas 707 to be built with turbofan engines was VH-EBH which was delivered to Sydney on 6 August 1961 wearing a modified version of the original 707 livery. Aircraft VH-EBI, VH-EBJ and VH-EBK were also delivered in this interim livery.
Aircraft VH-EBL and VH-EBM were delivered in the V-Jet livery. Progressively, aircraft VH-EBA to VH-EBG were retrofitted with turbofan engines and repainted in the V-Jet livery.

For those of you wondering what the Boeing house titles looked in colour. I have to give you a colour pic in a diecast of a smaller scale. It would also be nice in 1:200

Interesting release! Saw this announced on EZToys along with others that are due mid January according to the site. When were these previously announced?

I would take a Boeing house colors as well!

don't think been announced before. so take with pinch of salt. ARD do exactly the same. when they put new models up on site, they ALWAYS put following month for arrival. when in fact its a few months. apart from the odd release.

If you are referring to to the ARD website, then ARD have the right product number as I mentioned in my original post IF701QF120P. The rego on the artwork is VH-EBH is the same in my OP as well, however, there is a big mistake in ARD's description. It definitely is not John Travolta's 707. That has already been released in 2019. I have one. John Travolta acquired Qantas's last (13th delivered 707-138/b). It's rego was VH-EBM

Yes Denis,

I am quite sure why Qantas came up with V-jet livery now. It was all about the new engines on this aircraft
