Qantas Boeing 787-9 VH-ZNJ landed in Sydney after flying nonstop from London.
For just the second time in history, a commercial airline has operated a nonstop flight from London to Sydney. On Friday 15/11/2019 in the afternoon, Qantas Boeing 787-9 VH-ZNJ "Longreach" touched down in Sydney as QF7879 at the end of a 19-hour, 19-minute journey from London Heathrow. (Current World record)
I'ts arrival comes 30 years after the first nonstop flight from London Heathrow to Sydney, which took place in August 1989 when Qantas ferried 747-400 VH-OJA City of Canberra home. That flight took 20 hours 9 minutes and 5 seconds.
It took off from London Heathrow a little after 0600 local time on Thursday at an expected takeoff weight of 233,000kg – according to figures from Qantas
Here is Qantas 100th. I also include a pic of a gift to all staff from the Qantas CEO. A 100th badge. I got mine off ebay and there's plenty of staff unloading more if you want one.
I think the model & stand is very nice. This is the Inflight200 copy & I don't often double but I am getting the Gemini200 to go with it. Here is the model. Enjoy! By the way the bush near my place is still in tact and not on fire. So far so lucky.
Yes Willy the special Qantas 100th limited edition one dollar coin set from the Australian Royal Mint I am purchasing this weekend to go with the model. Jean Pierre, I hope you will be around for Air France 100th in 2033 it's only 13 years away and your a young fellow with a long way to go, so your not going anywhere soon mate! Mr Burns Gemini December releases for 2019 were just announced by Crownvic on the 11th of December 2019 so I expect this model will get to OZ post Christmas, sometime like early Janurary2020. However, I don't need the model to do a review. The model will be just as nice as the Inflight copy. The only one point of difference, might be more detailing on the engine cowlings with the reverse thruster's which are not so predominate on the Inflight200 copy. I have 100 percent trust the GJ will be as good as the Inflight200 copy or better as it will have this feature pictured below.
Nice JP, I think your got the right numbers in the mix there.
I forgot to put the link for the coin set in my last post. The Royal Australian Mint have made a youtube video. I have also been told that there was only a limited number of these sets made. I see some going on ebay now I hope to pay close to retail AUD 199.00
A very nice model Steve, I will add one to my fleet to join the KLM 100 as two century 787's together allthough it's unlikely that they will see each other in real life. I truly hope that the forest fires in Australia are coming to an end soon, terryfying seeing the footage on the news and the poor wildlife that doesn't survive those horrible fires. Hope you will add some pics of the Gemini once it arrives to your airport.
KLM fanatic, also Lufthansa, Air France, Delta, Pan Am, Swissair, Sabena etc. To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. You currently have 0 posts.
I see that CV has already posted on your thread of Qantas Yam Dreaming and he is correct. So you will see his reply on your post. Thanks for your link to the Australian Royal mint too. I purchased a set off ebay at a low price plus free postage so I hope it arrives in tact with no damage to the box. 40,000 is quite a lot to go round, it's good for collectors
I never purchased the Gemini Jets copy. Double up's are not really my thing. I did go into Hobbyco store to check the GJ copy out. It is beautiful. I can not separate them. Both manufactures did a brilliant job on this model.
