Default Holiday Purchases

So did any collectors take advantage of the holiday sales going on? If so what did you manage to add to your collection?

I bought the G200 Delta A-310 with 20% off the original price of 95.96...not buying as much as I used to, but the widget drew me in!

I also added a couple of Queens, the IF YAL-1, and preordered the IF United Saul Bass.

I have three models on preorder, and have purchased three aircraft within days of each other. The purchased ones are all Mad Dogs.

Was on the fence about the IF200 United Saul Bass...don't know why! I have the 744 version. I will probably want one and pay the sold out price down the road.... I have the YAL-1 and like it minus the one wing gear door that is snapped in half. Tried to get a replacement, but Jodi at Jetstreams never responded to my 2 e-mails...wish Don was still actively running the operation!

I bet one of the Mad Dogs is the G200 NW! What are the other 2?

Actually, I didn't pick up the NW. I got an Alaska MD-80 and two DC-9 old timers.

More simply, I bought a Hasegawa plastic kit of a B 767-300 with GE engines to make an Air France model which has so far been completely neglected by the mainstream manufacturers.

I wholeheartedly agree with your statement. There are many models that are unfortunately overlooked, or quite frankly, never even considered.

I hear you JP now if GJ/JCW would that would be nice. Qantas collectors are missing a Qantas 767-238ER the delivery aircraft would be nice VH-EAJ "City of Wollongong" I don't know if there is a kit or decals

Nice FedEx addition. I don't have a single FedEx in my collection. I used to have the 722, but regrettably sold it! I need to add a FedEx back to my collection. Thanks for the inspiration!

DC-10 Tony, No NW Mad Dog...that is surprising! I was just looking at the Alaska last night on Ebay. Wonder what the other two 9's are...hmmm NW, NE, Ozark, Allegheny?

I agree, we need a Qantas 762 and Air France 763. I really like the 767!

At the Threshold Aviation black friday sale I got a DHL DC8 for 30% off and a JCWings ANA retro 767 for basically 70% off. They bought them from their supplier for half off then had them an additional 20%. So this $160 model was only $55 haha. It'll make a great CargoJet

Trust me, it takes a lot of restraint from getting the NW. However, I stick to my criteria and limit it to Northwest Orient only. It also helps my wallet. Lol.

The other two DC-9s are indeed an Ozark and a lovely shiny Eastern. 😁

Nice FedEx scoop! I've always liked those, but I haven't room for everything.

Speaking of FedEx, their company store is selling a 1/200 GJ 767-300 for $45. A 1/200 777 for $75.

I bagged the Inflight 200 SF Airlines 747-400F from ARD for $59. Even with shipping to the US a good deal.

Not sure why but there was a an IF Qantas 787 marked down to $34.95 at the airplane shop yesterday so I got that. Model is in perfect condition. Almost the best value I've gotten all year surpassed only by the time the Airplane Shop had GJ's 1:200 Aeroflot A330 for $9.95 instead of $99.95.

I also bought a ton of Herpa and Hogan 1:200 fighter jets in the $10-15 range. Nobody else seemed to be going for it.

Ended up spending $600 and walking out with 31 models.

You attended the open house! Wow...you got some great deals! Those 1:200 Herpa and Hogans are nice! I have a few along with my AF1 and military collection.

So you averaged $19.35 per plane...that is a great day of shopping! Enjoy those new finds!

Nice! I have that CityJet Fokker F50 too. What a micro-sized ripper. Love the Herpa Finnish Airlines DC-3 too. Stunning!
