Default 1/200 Beluga A330 X1L

I found this model on the Airbus Factory website. It was $66 Euros plus $9 Euro shipping..
Let’s talk about ordering and shipping.. very easy.. As many of you know I am very critical of the US Postal service having had many packages go around the world when just being sent across town. This model was ordered on a Thursday evening and shipped from France next day, having arrived in Florida Tuesday evening just 4 days! Thank you DHL who also sent daily updates.. GREAT SERVICE...HIGHLY RECOMMEND

The model is very light and obviously lacks any detail of today’s die casts. The landing gear is a nice touch but very cheap. The loading nose can be displayed either in the open position or lowered.. yes it closes all the way despite gap showing..Also there is an option to display a crew staircase which too is a nice touch.. the model can also be displayed gear up on a way oversized metal tripod display stand too.

The verdict? If you are a perfectionist who likes details and likes to measure everything with a DACrometer and criticise for mistakes then this model won’t do it for you.. However if you are looking for something really different, something strange and don’t care about the fine details, it is a great conversation piece and goes well alongside the 747LCF.. in that case I highly recommend it...

Ordered the lupa model too. Something completely different and nice to go with the dreamlifter.

Very nice.

This model could go nicely with the Aero Spaceline Super Guppy and the Beluga I already have.

My old art teacher would call that a happy accident, yes he was a bit strange.

but in all seriousness this is a great review, you have given great balance on both positive and negative with some light humour thrown in for good measure.
Refreshing change from the model witch hunts we see far too often here.

It helps when you have an iPad.
I'm still recovering from the under 9€ shipping with DHL.
The lowest quote i got for shipping overseas was 20€ from the regular post office, for a weight of 1g up to 499 grams.
But then this is Reunion, french department, And the Post Office is state regulated. Not DHL.
I...MUST...Go And Check this out tomorrow, will call DHL.

I see this plane and various other Belugas every day. I live 1 mile away from the Airbus Broughton Factory.

From the pictures looks a reasonable model

Hi Crownvic, I just received mine but how do you take out the gear and stairway doors to put in the gears and stairs? I tried to force it out with a tweezer but was afraid I will scratch the model. Thanks!

I used a needle to remove them. They do sit tight though. Next thing is to try and fit hogan gears. The ones that Lupa provides are a bit toyish to my taste.

yes true, I used the end of a box opener knife-blade and wedged in and slowly pulled them up, it was very difficult not wanting to scratch the fuselage.

Great idea on the hogan gears, I will give that a go too!

I used a set for the A330. For the A350-1000 you wil need to have 6 wheel main bogies.

The only hogan gears with 6 bogies is the 777 gears. But don't know if it will fit...I also have a350-1000 ordered here with 6 wheel bogies

I ordered two 1/200 a350-1000, two a220-300, two Beluga XL with shipping being.....9 Euro for all 6...

The A220-300 unfortunately didn't come with landing gears or even place for gears. It's metal diecast.... so sucks

The beluga XL does come with separate gears for up/down.

Here's mine compared to a skymark Beluga....

Tanks for the pictures.
There seems to be a difference in size between the 2
Or is it my eyesight playing tricks ?
Speaking of shipping i checked DHL And for shipping one Beluga model from Reunion to USA it would cost me 90 €.
Ninety euros for a 3 day delivery.
Regular economy shipping would be 22 €.

Yes, very obvious size difference between the old beluga, a300 based and the new beluga xl, a330 based.

Well, this is not a "normal" shipping rate by any mean from the airbus shop. I ordered mine on 11/05 6pm FL time (11/06 1am france time) and the box showed up at my door on 11/8 4pm FL time. So it is really express shipping obviously at heavily discounted rate.

Here's an order for ten a350-1000 and twenty beluga XL and the shipping cost is still 9 Euro to USA

There was only one shipping option on the airbus site. not sure where you are seeing your 90 euro and 22 euro shipping cost to USA.....

However, if you change your destination to UK or even france or asia, the shipping cost jumps drastically to several hundreds euro for the above order.

So this fixed 9 euro express shipping cost to USA could be like a special deal going on right now with airbus? I would definitely recommend you order all you ever want from airbus in this one instance!

59,95 euros including taxes from Aviation Megastore, you save 25 %.

Aviation Megastore shipping is 35 euro for ordering two XL. That pretty much negates any saving. And i am pretty sure that the UPS shipping they use is not the 2-3 day express service. If you live in the US, getting it from airbus is still a better deal.

Also Avi Meg doesn't have a few others like the lupa a360-1000.

It's too bad that airbus shop doesn't have any plastic lupa limox hogan a320/a321neo. Also sad there's no a330-800/900 from lupa limox hogan at this time
