Default Cost of a custom livery

I would like to know, how much you would have to pay just for the artwork of a diecast model - if you would ask a manufacturer? And...no, i wouldn't want to use decals.

What do you mean 'just for the artwork'? Solely the creation of the graphic files or the final model?

You have a bare white model. The price for the above model is 52EUR, With livery it is around 66EUR (depending on the manufacturer using the mould). So the artwork for lets say 150 units is 15EUR rougly. But how much do you have to pay when one units of a specific model is made?

IF it costs 150 € for 10 models, it will probably cost 140 € just for one, because IF it is tampographed, the stencils have to be designed specifically for your model and the printing machines set up to apply the art work And these initial procedures cost a lot.

I would have thought the costs per model are higher than for 10.

Simply said: 150x15=2250 Euro? Doesn't sound that far away. I think a low 4 digit price is given.

And how expensive would a custom model would be, when you find 5-10 people wanting the same model?

Ask the folks at V1 Decals or DrawDecals. If you're looking at applying a decal to a model to get the livery you desire they can do special orders. Usually about $40-50 CANADIAN dollars. Maybe the folks in the custom models section could help?

I have made quite a few custom models from scratch and have concentrated on EasyJet. I have attached an image of the patterns I had to use to create the decals I needed. I only have a basic computer and Vista operating system with which I utilised MS excel and paint and it took me around 24 hours to complete. The decals where printed on clear decal paper using a cheap inkjet printer. These were then sealed with acrylic gloss spray before applying them to the donor model, which took about 2 hours. Another 2 hours was spent with infill painting.
So when it comes to cost it depends on how much you charge for labour and materials used. If I were to charge £10 Sterling per hour then creating the decals would be £240 and another £40 to apply them. Materials are relatively inexpensive at about £10.

I not sure if any custom model makers use tampo printing. But correct me if I’m wrong.

Sorry I would not be able to replicate KLM liveries because I’m unable to print anything white using an inkjet printer.

well the only way to find out for certain IS actually ask one of the manu's. I bought a couple of ANA models direct off risesoon a good few years back and asked about doing other liveries not done or will be done. Jessica replied the artwork was free IF you bought at least a 100 models.

The question is if they also would create a livery for just 5 models with an increased priciong.

Do you have an airframe and an airline livery in mind, I guess the more complicated the livery the greater the cost.
Is it a custom model you desire to have in your collection?

Sure i have.... and i have doubts that these liveries might never make it to a regular release (NOT Inflight)
. Although manufacturers in general aöready made more obscure releases IMO. Maybe NG comes up with a 727 mould one day - you get older every day you know...

Kids Toys Rare IF 200 1: 200 JAT Yugoslav Airlines Boeing 727-200 YU-AKJ Alloy aircraft model Favorites Model With Original Box b3PLqZ9e

Inflight did both, and that is the reason why i would want a GJ200-mould based custom. My hope was Aeroclassics to release a JAT 722 one day as they already did one in 1/400.
