Default NG future in 1/200 ? ....Your two cents....

As NG seems to concentrate on the BIZ Jet and commuter segment, do you believe they will get any bigger than ...lets say a CRJ-900 or a CS100/300?

My goodness, I would hope so. They seem to have produced some pretty nice aircraft in 1/400, so I'd like to assume once they have some bugs worked out with their 1/400 models they'll ramp up production with larger 1/200 models.
But again that's purely speculation on my part, though I can always hope...

Not necessarily bigger but something so far ignored by the mainstream manufacturers.
North American Sabreliner, Mystère 20 or Falcon 20 (Federal express).

Or something completely new with Boeing cooperation : a B 367-80.
Success guaranteed.

Jean Pierre.

In a way I hope they stay focussed on that regional segment if they diversify into 1:200. With a few exceptions, the "big" or bigger aircraft segment is pretty well covered by others I think.
I rather hope they will add some 1:200 turboprops or look back at some past liveries.

I’d like to see them do 757’s. Their 1/400’s look fantastic.

They appear to have the greatest moulds and strongest details of any models on the market. I am fully for NG to make an explosion into 200 scale. Perhaps we can finally get some much desired bizjets and private planes such as a PROPER Gates Learjet 35 and a Cessna Citation. Also a Piper Comanche, and Beechcraft Super King Air.

I believe if NG will follow the smaller aircraft line, such as Piper Comanche, and Beechcraft Super King Air, will not be able to produce detailed models (at 1: 200 would be too small).

There are many models that, despite the high investment in new moulds, could suit many collectors. For example: IL-62, YAK-42, IL-86 and 96, TU-204, TU-104, IL-1, Breget Deux-Points, Dart Herald, SAAB Scandia, CRJ1000, Dassault Mercure, HS Trident, ARJ71 (in 1:200) and others.

In June, I wrote an email to NG, which was quickly answered:

I am Mike, thanks for your recommendations and choosing NG product.

We want to make many many new moulds, but it will take a long time, let’t do one by one. We heard our suggestions, maybe one day we will do it,

Best regards

Mike

Hmm they are ruling the 1:400 market chances are they might try the 1:200 market, but then again 1:200 models are more expensive to make left alone the molds probably costs more than 2x than what they have now.

it all depends on the size of the NG Models company and what their cash flow , of that is all in order I'm sure they will try it

But sometimes changes don't always have to mean they come with positive results.
We;ll have to see how it all packs out I guess.

I would love to see them venture into the larger CRJ’s (700/900). I feel like another smart move would be the Embraer 135/145/145x. There hasn’t been a United Express Embraer made yet. Shocking!

If it's not airliners or mainstream then it will not be a money maker. If i am wrong then i apologize

757's would be nice and Boeing Dash 80 would be amazing!

Maybe an announcement of a 727 mould could motivate another manufacturere to use their mould(s) more often.

Same for the 733/4/5.

Now if they could just make their Beluga XL in 1/200 scale as well, that would be beyond wonderful!
But of course that would also make me go out and buy a Gemini Dreamlifter to keep it company...

I really feel like business Jets is a very, very small market unless you are catering to very rich, exclusive customers. Most of us never get the chance to ride in a business jet and for many of us, the models we collect coincide with travel memories, planes we have ridden in, or planes we associate with a local airport. In some cases, planes we have worked on or flown.

I think the smaller aircraft that could bemoney makers that have not been done would be a Dash 8-300, a Twin Otter, a Beech 1900, a King Air, and a Caravan. I too would love to see them do a 757 and a GOOD 737-200 is long overdue

It would be interesting to know if they plan narrowbody airliners aswell, like a Caravelle or a DC-9 ... a VC-10 would be great aswell.

My vote is still for the 757. Many fans of this aircraft and still many liveries yet to be done. Maybe even a flaps down option?
Judging by the quality of the detail on other 1:200 NG models this could be something special.

It may be advantageous for NG to get into some of the more under-represented commuters in 1/200 scale. The Dash 7 and Dash 8, Beech 1900C/D, Beech 99, Shorts 330 & 360, Saab 340, Fairchild Metro and BAe-146 would all provide loads of different liveries, and are either not, or minimally, produced. First batch of releases could be:

United Express (Saul Bass) Beech 1900C
United Express (Saul Bass) Dash 8 300
Golden Gate Dash 7
Piedmont Commuter (Henson) Dash 7
Piedmont Commuter (Brockway) Beech 1900C
Allegheny Commuter Beech 99
Allegheny Commuter Dash 7
Delta Connection BEX Saab 340
Delta Connection BEX BAe-146-200
Eastern Express Dash 8 -100
Eastern Express Saab 340
Pioneer Airlines Metro
Rio Metro

Ok, guess this is more of a wish list, but these would be great releases in 1/200!

It could sound a little blasphemous to some....but we are still missing a real good A320 series - the Inflight is ok, but way too expensive for what you get (and it is only that good because the GJ mould is far from being accurate). What i've seen from NG up-to-date (regarding my purchases) i am convinced NG would do a great job on the A320 aswell.

The Inflight A320 is a good model simply because it was designed and made with care, not because the Gemini version is "inaccurate".
I have A 320s from five different manufacturers, not sure that a sixth is necessary.

If you consider AV200/IF200 and HG/Herpa one company (or at least two companies with mould sharing agreements) and on the other side GJ with their mould ...i count "ONLY" three moulds.

Bought in that order when they became available.

1 Western Model, completely forgotten, produced in the late nineties, first attempt to make an A 320.

2 Hogan, snap fit, plastic, produced along an A 318, A 319, and an A 321 twenty years ago, basic, not that bad.

3 Gemini, metal, aluminium, a few inaccuracies, cockpit section, landing gear fragile.

4 Herpa, plastic, not snap fit, very nice with antennae and new winglets.

5 Inflight, recently released, very good, it will be difficult to make a better model.

All these models are different and are in my cabinet.

Jean Pierre.

I wasn't aware of the WM 320, but did you know that HG released their latest 320s as metal diecast? I wouldn't count Herpa or Hogan simplay because Herpa uses their mould once or twice per year maximum, and Hogan diecast wise is completely off focus for me as their last 1(200 civilian diecast release was the Falcon BIZ jet.

Some of those mentioned would look really good as a highly detailed 1:48 (of course by another maker). Twin Otter would be right at the top of my list!

Yeah I agree here! No ones properly ventured into the Business Aviation side of things,so let's keep it just to executive jets/props as far as NG is concerned. There are so many other manufacturers doing airliners in 1/200.
I don't really collect models in 200 scale but would sure like to collect one of each of these as I used to work in this side of aviation for a good few years! Some of which I'd like to see are: Global Express, Challenger range, Dassault Falcon range and definitely some King Airs.
