Default New Arrival Whats missing?

OK this was my 'Holy Grail' of all models, Inflight200 Wardair 747 in delivery scheme, just arrived yesterday afternoon from ARD. I couldn't wait to see it out of the box. When I opened it, I looked, something wasn't right. What happened to 'Quality Control' Inflight? How can ALL the upper deck windows be missing on one side of the model and 2 on the other and it go unnoticed? A quick all to ARD and they tell me to return it with a note saying what the problem is with the model, I think it is pretty obvious. It cost me £13 to return insured, hope I get that credited too.

Easy... it’s a special version ordered by Wardair.

No, just kiddin’ of course. It’s a horrible mistake that should be noticed by QC. Wondering if it’s a general production error (then, more or even all the models that came out of the factory should have this error) or if it is a rather ‘unique’ error. The latter might slip through any (quality) control’s fingers, of course.

I sincerely hope ARD will also refund the return shipping costs; Trevor always did. This is called ‘customer service’ when the product does not arrive in perfect conditions.

I have spare window decals if that would help. PM me if you want them.

Doesn’t make it any better on the quality control failure. I had a bad one several years ago, but fortunately the model was destined to become a custom model, so it did not matter too much.

Thanks for the very kind offer, I have a full set of Wardair decals including the windows, but I don't expect to have to custonise a brand new model after paying £121 and having waited ages for it on pre-order. A couple more days waiting for a replacement won't kill me.

That is just terrible. I was looking forward to this model, now I am not interested in the least

Just a correction to what I just wrote, saw the same model just now on EBAY and the windows are there.

Maybe get a replacement that's inspected before it's shipped.

Most of the pictures of this model I could find in the web indeed show the correct 10 windows on the left hand side, but still only 8 windows on the right

So in some way or the other it appears that the whole run might be botched?

Well I probably know why this is happening more, the people that make these models for you are getting paid less than they actually should be getting or even worse, this brings down their motivation to do their best.

There by the quality of the product declines, more of such mistakes happen because the employee's tend to care less of what they are doing as t their job so I do get it from that perspective.

And it's not only like this in the model industry but with computer parts as well, you pay a lot but you get less when it comes to quality, lets hope it clears up at some point, best to do with such things is to RMA your product for a new replacement, the typical thing to do with all such cases.

I'll get schtick for this, but I have a feeling that "Jyna" is somewhat pissed with all of the unnecessary tariffs being thrown upon them by a certain demagogue. Perhaps they're cutting corners by letting go of QC staff and other employees to counter the loss of profits.

Most probably yea, not all too surprising tbh, not the first place I seen this happen.

I sent the model back to ARD, haven't got a replacement yet because they checked their other models only to find if they had windows on both sides, the windows in A/C right only had 8 instead of 10 on ALL the models. They taking the matter up with Inflight. Seams like it was a careless QC issue. Wardair never had 8 windows on A/C right.
Having said that, I would rather have this model with 8 windows than be without it, this was my 'holy grail'.

No I got the Gemini200, that was in the later scheme, but the delivery scheme is my favourite, that was the scheme I first saw in 1978 before the new scheme arrived with the DC10. I still have the Inflight version on pre-order with your favourite retailer, 'buygoneworld'. If ARD are able to get me another model I'll customise it and have both 747-100's CF-DJC & CF-FUN.

Wait for a new release... my glass ball tells me there’s a good chance for it. Accepting faulty models makes a manufacturer say “Well, if you don’t care about the defects, I don’t care about better quality control”. [old business wisdom]
