Default Herpa Airbus A350

Hi DACers, been a while since Ive been online, still collecting a little but not like before.
One model I mulled over but never pulled the trigger on was the GJ200 BA A350-1000. I don't yet have an A350 model and this is most likely the one I’d buy.
Anyway, seen that Herpa has announced a BA A350-1000 which has the union flag winglets, something missing from the Gemini version. I’m sure in time Gemini will release a second BA ‘bus with the necessary modification albeit a different reg, but I’d consider the Herpa one if the quality is good, especially as it is almost half the price of the Gemini as well.
Anybody have any comments or photos of previous Herpa 1:200 A350s I’d appreciate it to help my decision

Cheers!

I agree with you the Herpa A350 mould is very good, and because they have waited until the actual aeroplane has been rolled out and photographed the printing will most probably be accurate. There are some frustrating errors on the printing of the Gemini version, which wouldn't have happened if they'd waited until the real thing had been seen. Sometimes Gemini could do with being a bit more patient with releases.

I agree w/ you 100%. Not really errors, but serious omissions! I noticed that as well on BA35X's winglets.
Another example: I received the Pan Am A310-300 last week.
Excellent and accurate mold! However, I guess in the rush to get it out, Gemini totally decided that a few missing antennas, drain masts and missing underbelly printing of main landing door outlines is acceptable.

Other than the Gemini Jets logo, the underbelly is almost totally white and devoid of any printed details.

Case is looking good for the Herpa then, I know it’s plastic, but within a collection display I don’t think it’s obvious, I’ve got a few plastic models amongst the metal and they look fine. The biggest standout is price difference, almost half the price, so I think I’ll order this one.

Thank you for this information ALITALIA ...

I find myself asking the same question about the AF A 350-900 which will be released in the coming weeks or months.
Herpa (plastic) or Gemini (metal) ?

Not a problem if the best is plastic, I have a few Herpa Premiums and Hogan special releases, it is clear that a plastic model can be as good and as accurate as a die cast, it all depends on the care taken by the manufacturer to make the model.

In some cases I was so disappointed by some die cast products that they never found their way to my cabinets.

Omissions and errors. The positioning of the 'Speedmark' and British Airways titling on the Gemini version is off too. This is normally the kind of detailing that Gemini does very well, however rushing to release the model months before the real thing has been seen will almost guarantee these sorts of inaccuracies happen.

The same can be said for the Gemini Virgin A350 model.

I've got the LH Herpa A350 for quite some time and like it very much. One of the best plastic molds today. Pre ordered the Air France too.

No problem Jean Pierre! Herpa's A350 is much better then, for example, their 787.

Thanks for the comments and pictures, that Lufthansa bird looks stunning! I’m so glad I refrained from buying the Gemini, I was more sceptical of the reg for the BA bird, and although this turned out to be correct, other omissions would have left me disappointed had I bought a copy.
Pre ordered the Herpa model from ARD today, judging by the Lufthansa model, I’m confident the BA will also look awesome.

I'm going to wait for Gemini to get their act together. As much as plastics can have a very engaging contemporary character of their own, the lack of detail doesn't impress me.

I'll wait.

The tugs are made by jc wings. Actually the Herpa A350 is the first modern plastic mold with the same detail as the metal one exept no magnetic gears.

Thanks for that!

When you say 'same detail', do you mean all the tiny stencils the diecast ones usually come with?

Yes indeed. Maybe not all stencils compared to my Delta A350 from gemini, I don't see much difference.

Ah, thanx! Your Lufty ones DO look particularly interesting. Beacons too! Wow. I could be enticed with an Air France one. I actually like many of the plastic offerings, but they can be rather scant on that surface detail, aerials, beacons, etc., and in many cases that holds me back.

Maybe those days are over for me thanx to Herpa.

Don't let that guy get sucked into the number two engine.

Hahaha, the guy survived don't worry. If all goes well, the new LH 350 from herpa will arrive this week. I will post some pics here. I do like metal above the plastic but this mold is very good and at half the price a bargain..

I will be looking forward to seeing these pics. Could you get some closer shots of the landing gear while you're at it? Thanx in advance!

This Herpa A350 intrigues me.

In my case, I'll have to see some crisp photos of the Air France one. I've gotten spoiled with the 'millions' of tiny stencils splattered all over my GJ AF777-200.

Intriguing regardless, as the mould DOES look better than anyone elses. (at least to me )

The A350 sure is a unique looking plane. Got to hand it to Airbus for breaking the mould...I appreciate the Dreamliner and the A350 for their elegance and bandit-ness. Seen the China Airlines up close and it’s a cool looking bird.

Yes, it is, isn't it? A few niggles, but overall it's pretty impressive.

I like where Herpa is going with the A350.

Curious: Is that the box for the model in the background of your recent photos?
