Default ORBITAL ATK with Pegasus rocket

IF10111116

Great model for collectors that are interested. Lots of details. One thing worthy of note. You will not be able to have this model on the stand with the Pegasus Rocket stowed as it covers the display stand hole. Other than that, this model delivers a nice subject for those space aircraft & NASA collectors

Enjoy!

That's a really unique model and interesting subject Steve. Didn't know that Inflight did models like these! Thanks for posting.

I watch that plane fly over my house to and from Palmdale as it does sorties out of Cape Canaveral Air Station here in Florida..

Nothing unfortunate at all. I read your post before my reply. Tom was after confirmation. I am just more on the caution side of misinformation. But now we know for sure. Thanks CV

Has anyone in the US received one of these? They appear to be unusually hard to find. All of the retailers I checked, even outside the US, show it as either sold out or still a pre-order. No one has stock. That other thread about Japanese retailers rejecting these doesn't sound good either.

For those wondering about it still being in service, there is a launch currently scheduled for sometime in September, though it has been repeatedly rescheduled over the past year+ due to issues with the rocket. NASA TV does show the launches if they are the customer as they are for this launch. This sometimes includes great air-to-air video from NASA F-18s.

I just got one from Scale Model Store last Wednesday. Aiken and Airspotters websites state available for pre-order.

The models received in Japan had a few missing belly antennas and a supposed paint smear on the rocket.

I would never send a model back for those issues especially if it is in short supply. Two of my closest collectors who buy a lot of models will not tolerate a missing VHF antenna and will stress out and dispose of a model just for that reason. I just dont get it..

When they don’t like what they buy (or have delivered), they are probably not happy. I can completely understand that someone does not accept a model which doesn’t make him/her happy.

Touchdown, I am pretty pleased with it!

I did the pre-order on it well over a year and a half ago I believe… It took a while for it to get here but I am glad they did something so unique! I know that I have been hard on in-flight in the past on some of their engine issues but then they have stuff like this that I feel like they just knock it out of the park!

Went through the model with a fine tooth comb, and did find a small issue on the lower part of the left wing. It looks like there is a slight smudge the paint. However I don’t display my models upside down so I am going to live with it and be happy with it.

Received mine from Scale Model. Long journey so no surprise one of the rear stabilizers fell out. Easy glue job. No other issues I can see. Love the model.

I wonder if any of the Gemini stands might fit under the Pegasus? They made three 1/200 stands - G2STD357 for wide bodies, G2STD358 for narrow bodies, and G2STD380 for A380s. I'm not sure if any of the pegs would fit the L-1011.

UPDATE: The stand that came with my Gemini C-17, which I believe is a G2STD357, fits in terms of diameter, but the peg is about 1/16th of an inch or so too long. It appears that the Pegasus is also still a bit too long to fit with the arm of the stand.

Good thinking 99. I gave it a try. The GJ/GJ wooden stand style fits the Inflight200 hole on the this Tristar! The Pegasus rocket is a feature of this model and it would be nice to show case it even though the gear is fixed down on this model. It almost works. A slight bend on one of these stands by one centimeter or a bit more and it will work!

That would bring the model out of balance, don’t you think? Next problem is that the material of the stand is too thick to attach the Pegasus rocket completely so it wouldn’t display nicely, I think...

Just my two cents worth.

I get what you are saying, but I was also thinking of changing the angle of attack of the support upwards to compensate. Maybe this model is just best displayed on the top shelf (glass) and no stand after all. I will still try to adjust a spare stand I have to see if it works

There is a gap toward the rear of the Pegasus when it is mounted, so the stand might not be too thick. Now, how to flatten the existing bend of the arm of the stand and rebend it to lengthen that top part without making a mess...

Does anyone have a Gemini A380 stand? Some of the Google search images make it look like the top part might be longer behind the peg.

The Stargazer program was originally launched by Orbital Sciences Corporation. The first livery had a red "OSC" title and the red cheat line. They subsequently replaced "OSC" with "Orbital" (this livery reflected in the upcoming second release). Orbital and ATK merged, resulting in Orbital ATK. Stargazer was repainted with the blue "Orbital ATK" title and blue cheat line (this livery reflected in the first release). Northrup Grumman then purchased Orbital ATK, so "Northup Grumman" has now replaced the "Orbital ATK" title, with the cheat line remaining the same.
