Default World Airways Ebay bargain

I just picked this up on eBay, an absolute bargain at £57 +£4.99 delivery. I can't believe it, looks incredable. I don't know why inflight200 haven't done the DC10 yet, when they do I'll be wanting one.

Also note the world logo on the tail which Pan American World Airways also used.
As far as I know, Pan American Airways bought over World Airways didn't they and then became Pan American World Airways, right?

Awesome B747-273C there though, fantastic find for sure

That's interesting. So, World Airways was in existence before Pan Am? Or did Pan Am just lengthen their name after the acquisition? Because I always thought that the logo was a Pan American-only design. I'll have to do some research.....

I think World Airways was more Charter work than scheduled. In the 70's and early 80's they operated ABC flights between the UK and USA for a company called Jetsave. I think they did a lot of Troop transport flights for the US Military too. To the UK they operated the brand new DC10-30's in this scheme. I remember it being featured on the front cover of 'World Airliner Registrations 1979', so I very much hope that inflight will release a DC10 in this scheme soon.

They were charter and military charter at first. After deregulation they did some scheduled service.

Flew on them in 1982. In First Class the seats would swivel 180° so you could face the seats behind you and join the people behind you for dinner on a portable table top they set up.

I knew that you were seeking validation from others. You asked clearly. Even I was intrigued because of the identical logo on the tail of World Airways. It would make sense to deduce that the name "World Airways" would be incorporated into Pan American Airways if the two companies were to merge.

Don't let it get to ya Gold Leader. There's a lot of salty things going on around here lately.

Im not sure where the sarcasm was? Someone made a comment that was totally off-base and inaccurate and I corrected it. World Airways was never affiliated with Pan American World Airways.

Right. World Airways was Ed Daly's baby.

Did Mr. Daly get permission to use PA's logo then?

Close enough for some infringement methinks.

Absolutely different.

Plus when he bought World in 1950, PAA had a different livery than the globe one.

Nice purchase and at a great price. A number of deals floating around on Ebay lately! Good for buyers, bad for sellers! Market is flooded!

Yeah but World has that sickle thing. So who knows.

TWA had a form of a globe on the tail. I guess there’s nothing new under the sun as they say.
