Default Important note for Shed Models 1:200 customers.

Unfortunately Chris Sayer who ran what was know as "Shed Models" passed away a few days ago.
So Wojtek may be the best contact to see what is going on although he's not getting any younger.
-Helmet Models wound up
-Derek Barratt gone.
Fortunately I am lucky to have acquired at least a dozen kits from the above in recent years, but its a real shame that someone cannot take these models over.

Its up online now The One True Scale
Also received this email today..............

You are receiving this email because your email address appears in the list of contacts maintained by Chris Sayer of Shed Models and The One True Scale website.

I regret to inform you that Chris died three days ago following an illness. I am sure you will join me in expressing to his family our great sympathy and sorrow for their loss. The loss is ours as well, for there will be no more Shed Models, no more The One True Scale and no more of those excellent Newsletters.

The website (which I have been managing for Chris) will remain for the time being, but of course there will be no new content. Eventually I will take it down, so if there is any material on it you particularly prize, by all means download/copy it for your own use.

The mailing list on which your name and email appears will be deleted in a couple of weeks' time, in the interests of data security.

Yours sincerely,

David Bramhall

The generation is aging out and passing on. We will miss Chris- by his newsletters, meet-ups, castings, decals, wisdom, and enthusiasm, he kept us together.

Certainly true. Our hobby is all the poorer without them. More devastating for the family and friends of those who’ve gone of course.

That is sad news so sorry to hear that, as I have a few models from them and love their work.

I want the Twin Otter and Britten Norman Islander from Helmet really bad just don't have the patience to wait. Hearing news like this makes that reasoning invalid.

Sad News indeed. A true gentleman. He helped me with some props & landing gear for my Invader & Tigercat fire bombers.

Here are a few pics of his Twin Pin kits as a tribute. My avatar happens to be his B-25.

Very sad news indeed!

Helmet Models 200 / Shed Models was one of my true heroes when it comes to really classic airliners. Chris together with Wojtek have been so helpfull in getting me going with some 30's, 40's and 50's models I have built or still plan to put together.

Condolences to his family and colleagues.

As indicated by others already, this generation of model builders and enthousiasts is slowly disappearing. I hope this website will keep 1:200 pre-1950's models alive as well.

Reading between the lines with Chris in some email correspondence it seemed that although aware of this forum people like Chris shied away from this forum as didn’t really fit in with their hobby despite having a 1/200 section. Chris was a conduit with what was going on in the UK and looking at the 1/200 newsletter sent via email every couple of months there did seem to be a younger generation there. It would be a shame to destroy the link between other interested modellers elsewhere around the world. The only thing I can think is to establish another forum elsewhere allowing people who subscribed to the one true scale newsletter to opt in if they are interested. I’ve corresponded with Wojtek in the past, and there was mention of a forum in a past newsletter but maybe such a suggestion is premature given the death of Chris. It would be a shame to wipe out Chris Sayers extensive email list. Suggestions?
