You have a valid point. Unfortunately, GJ forward orders are not available to pre-order at Hobbyco here in Australia. I have tried to order one and the answer is no you have to wait until we get an email for Gemini that this model is coming and only then, will it be available to pre order. Frustrating

Qantas to retire 747-438 before it's 100th birthday (founded 16th November 1920)

The last six are 747-438ER's VH-OEE, VH-OEF, VH-OEG, VH-OEH, VH-OEI, VH-OEJ

Hi Aussiejets

You will definitely buy.
Ps.
I'm angry at GJ's policy. 3 Lufthansa models at the same time (around 500 USD).
And yet JFox two models. In total, the shipment is 650-700 USD.

it's a forward order so you have time to order but if you have secured your order with pre payment then you have locked one in. (lucky you) There seems to be a lot of Luffty new colours in all manufactures coming out including Jfox so if that's what you are collecting, you are right you are getting smashed.

You are welcome StillAir as per my signature there are just six 747-438ER's left VH-OEE is next after Boeing delivers 787-9 VH-ZNI. Qantas has scheduled 747-438ER's on domestic services for those that don't have passports or those Aussies that don't want to travel overseas or those international travelers that do want to travel on the last Qantas 747's that may have arrived on another Qantas aircraft type or / airline. These are the flights to get your backside on 100 percent Qantas domestic scheduled 747-4 flights!

QF524 SYD-BNE 9 NOV 2019
QF743 SYD-ADL 23 NOV 2019
QF417 SYD-MEL 31 DEC 2019
QF439 SYD-MEL 15 FEB 2020
QF529 BNE-SYD 11 NOV 2019
QF736 ADL-SYD 25 NOV 2019
QF438 MEL-SYD 01 JAN 2020
QF400 MEL-SYD 17 FEB 2020

No more domestic flight's scheduled after QF400 at this stage. If you are traveling down and traveling on Qantas domestic services pick one of the above if it suits

I suspect the driving force behind livery changes aren't the airlines itself, but the diecast manufactures.
I mean how can you sell the same model twice? Make the airlines do a livery change!

Not pretty much different than QANTAS has been doing over numerous years since 1987 two colors white & Red now seeing Lufthansa doing basically the same idea but with White and Deep Purple I don't see an issue with it, it does show off a certain classy style just with a very new tone applied to it, even though if the tail logo had been gold instead of Silver that might of made it look somewhat better maybe?

But on the other side the reason they made it Silver &the swan logo) was to maintain the livery with a neutral appearance, just my thoughts on that though and yeah it does work, but it does need some getting used to

Hmm it gives a simple but subtle look, but many still miss the yellow, some changes are great some are less great but I think this livery will do just fine, it's not as bad as I thought it would be to be very honest and yeah Deep Purple does Rock

Yes, I agree and the first thing I thought as I had heard about the new livery in January 2018 was, oh no, really! But then I was interested how this new livery will look like. Of course design or the shape of the layout is close or similar to Qantas, fedex, UTA and probably of some more other. The idea behind it was to give Lufthansa a time equivalent design. The differences in design are for example that wings and engines are also in white color. That is for sure a difference. Lufthansa had to remove the yellow as a dominant color to make their outer appearance cooler and to me this all together looks very elegantly. The yellow is not lost at all. It appears as dominant color for inner personal communication and passenger relation, to welcome them like the yellow panels right to the front left doors or on boarding cards etc.

A few days ago I saw mixed Lufthansa aircrafts outside at Frankfurt airport terminal A and to me the new design looks awesome (compared to the old one). Of course I will miss the old Lufthansa design as I do it for the older 70/80ies design, it is totally different.

One add on for a personal thing ... In December 2017 I took a flight with the D-ABYA from NY KJFK to FRA. Probably one of the last flights of the YA before it became it's new outfit as one of the first two Lufthansa aircrafts of their fleet.

wbr,
Jan

New livery is nice and elegant. It works extremely well with the new generation of airframes (i.e., 748i, 787, A350, 777X, etc.) and shows off the beautiful forms like a sculpture.

That being said, nothing beats the '80s livery. Blue cheatline, white top, bare metal belly, yellow tail logo, large titles. Perfection.
