How did they come up with "Canada 3000"??

I surmise the following occurred:

Sittin' around the conference table thinking "We've got sacks of cash, planes, and pilots, eh?" "Hmmmm. Let's call the airline 'Saskatchewan 2000'".

Brent, sitting towards the rear of the room, still reeling from the effects from the 5 Molson Lagers of last night, then chimes in "No, hoser. It needs to be more inclusive of our fair nation. How 'boot 'Canada 3000'?".

What say ye all?

That's a smart model! Congrats on your new bird. Can you show more detailed photos? I am digging that livery.

I think it's related to Air 2000 UK with 757s going between UK summer and Canada winter

It looks beautiful, well done on doing the custom successfully. I hope a Canada 3000 A330 or 757 gets released soon, not to mention an Air 2000 757! I'd be all over that.

Nice try. But frankly, I don't see too many discount airlines with clever names. Generally, they are kind of dorky. But why 3000? Because we've past the year 2000 I guess, and so now these guys can try to allude to being super-futuristic with 3000 . Who knows.

" 'boot"? I've lived in Canada for 66 years now and travelled darn-near all of it, and have never heard 'boot except from comedians outside of Canada. Just my 2¢ worth.

Air 3000 started life in 1988 as Air 2000, but operations were delayed because the Manchester UK based Air 2000 was considered to hold too greater share of the Company. The idea behind the Company set up was to exchange aircraft during 'peak periods', Canada peak winter , UK peak summer, a great business model that exists today between current airlines. The UK Company Air 2000 sold it's 25% share to Deluce Investments of Toronto (the holding Company for Air Ontario) enableing the Company to begin operations by December 1988. Air 2000 of Canada was forced to change it's name by May 1989 to disassociate itself from the UK based Air 2000. The interim name of Air 3000 was adopted on the first aircraft before the permanent name of Canada 3000 was later adopted.

Nice nugget of info re: Canada 3000. I knew a pilot who got laid-off from Canada 3000 when the airline folded. He was the Manager/Franchise Owner of our Timothy's Coffee Shop on Manor Road in Toronto here. Nice guy. We talked airplanes a heck of a lot. Then Timothy's corporate bought him out, sold the location to another franchisee, & all the staff got the sack. I never saw this chap again.

I'm sure that I read on here a couple of weeks ago that Inflight are (considering/ have in the works) to release a Canada 3000 A330. Have I imagined this piece of information, or got it wrong?

Joydecals.com have the Canada 3000 757, 737,A320 and Air2000 757,737 & A320 ALL in 1/200 scale. We just need JCwings / Inflight200 to produce some 'Blank' white models.
