Mainly those which had a silver-painted belly, though. Those are now re-released in polished finish. The prototype TriStar did not have any silver/metal parts, so I would not count on a re-release too much. But you never know...

Gemini 1:200 British, Qantas, and UPS 747-400s are all but impossible to find for reasonable prices. The stuff on eBay is just insane.

If it makes you feel any better, you can get the Inflight 200 Qantas 747-400 "Socceroos" from The Airplane Shop for $99.

That Inflight model might be the only one? I don't recall anyone releasing 1/200 diecast 747 with that livery. Overall I feel it's not all that nice of a design (the 2nd generation is by far the best), but that 50th special livery is pretty impressive.

I'd like a Qantas 747-400 too. Perhaps someone needs to look at doing another. They are being retired next year, so the timing would be ideal to release a model of a "last flight" Qantas 747-400.

I was wondering what white box models were all about. Are they extras? Samples? Customer copies? What's the story there?

I think the white box just means without the outer sleeve, limited card, etc. Basically a grey market model. Perhaps someone can chime in...

basically correct. this is the one he is looking for. But some early inflight models like the 707 came in plain white box. no coloured outer sleeve.

I appreciate that and I hope he finds it, but I was curious more “in general” than specifically to what he’s looking for. For example, if you look up 1/200 Horizon Q400 models on eBay right now, there are a lot of white box models for sale. I don’t know what that means.

LICENCE ISSUES!!! they put them in plain white boxes so cannot trace origin. usually produced in lower numbers too.

The sleeve may have also been ruined over the years and is no longer with the box.

Yes, this is the IF741003
It cames with a sleeve and a hand-written serial number on the label on the side of the white box.

The earliers 707s that I have that didnt came with a sleeve had a "inflight 200" stiker on top of the white box.

Not these ones. They all appear to be brand new and there are multiples of each - all white box.

This one is impossible to find. Most likely the production was limited to around 200 pieces.

But I have high hopes for more KLM constellations in the future, since the subject KLM is popular under 1/200 collectors!

cheers, VJ
