There are a number of releases of which i wonder - will they really sell or will they remain on the shelves forever? You know my taste airline-wise by now, and i have to admit there are a few obscurities here and there....but at least they do not look so unsinspired like the followings...
What is obscure to one person may be a must have for others. I for one own several of the models listed as they fly in and out of my hometown airport quite frequently.
I also went for the Nepal A330 as I have visited Katmandu years ago and recently sold a custom 757 in their older colors.

Well that's two models sold! It does baffle me why manufactuers make models of little known domestic airlines, yet ignore requests for well-known flag carriers' models?

Agreed, and secondly it is pretty obvious that JC more and more becomes like Inflight or Herpa - they announce releases with an immense backlog of models still to come. JC announced a KLM 737-400 a few moons back.
I don't get to excited about anything JC announces. Mainly because I could be on the porch, in my favourite rocking chair, waiting for the inevitable, before I see it.

Dude, you have a porch?! You lucky sonofab.....

While none of the above are of interest to me, I applaud the manufactures for bringing "obscure" airlines to production as they may in time release something that I will be looking for (Golden West, Muse Air, Jet America).

I would agree if they also released a classic obscurity from time to time...
For example: they have a Meridiana MD-80 in 1/400 - why not in 1/200?!
If these sell then why no Martinair cargo Md11? Or a house colors A300?

As I was very happy the got last night in the BLACK FRIDAY SALE at AMS the JW A330 NEPAL AIRLINES for a very good price (Thanks to our kind administrator I came aware of this beautiful model), I found this 1 1/2 year old thread and checked the model listed there…
Well, some are sold out but most of them are still available (and funny all with 2 left)
I personal find it very good to release such exotic airlinea, but what is "exotic"... it depends of course of the place where you are…
PS: The A332 NEPAL AL will join the A333 WOW and the A322 GREENLAND, which will go - after I won't be here anymore - to my son together with an empty travel journal which he has to fulfill (if you love the movies with Ben STILLER you know what I am talking about…)
I think the cheapest 747s I’ve seen are the European Air Charter (EAL) ex BA 747-200s, which even now can be had for as low as £30.
It’s the constant re releases that are most likely to gather dust though. I don’t mind personally as I only really look out for exciting new gems which drop in from time to time, finally seeing a RR 767 released was great, and now coming in Landor too, and a delivery colours Springbok 744 was another recent highlight.
I think the model I personally anticipate seeing the most whenever somebody decides to produce it has to be the LTU MD-11 (with polished belly of course). If it come nestled in between another tranche of Emirates A380s and Speedbird 747s, so be it!

I was surprised all the UK charter market in eg 80/90’s dont get a look in eg Air Europe, Inter European, Airtours, Orion. They would make lovely models.

I have to agree 100% with that. Sure, some releases have me shaking my head, but somebody out there is dying to get their hands on it. Thankfully, they got their wish. I've been there a few times as well.

Reason: Clarity
Great topic! If it weren't for obscure airlines getting made, I would have never gotten my LACSA 737 & 727 that I had been dying to have for years. They can def be hit or miss, but that's what makes the hobby fun, as there will always be someone else out there hunting one down.
I'm thinking most manufacturers might build these in small runs due to popularity.
