Default Photos of new Inflight 200 A310

Looks like the first photos of the Pan Am IF200 Airbus A310 are now on eBay.

I'll let the experts chime in on the mould and printing accuracy. This one is listed on the IF website as a May release, Balair and RCAF will be June releases, no word on Delta.

Here's the eBay link: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Rare-1-200-I...cAAOSwgs5c8-yL

Looks like the Hobby Master A310 with retooled undercarriage.
  • window line and cockpit sitting too high due to a too big nosecone
  • rear windowline should lead upwards
  • tail is too small

AND for 115EUR a little overpriced - just my impression...

https://www.arcunia.com/index.php?id...duct&id_lang=7

Aeroclassics has got a fantastic A310 in 1/400 - maybe one day there'll be one in 1/200.

IMHO still an airboeing cockpit shape.
All manufacturers refuse to file flat the two front windscreens areas located behind the side cockpit windows.
there must be 4 flat panes.
the 2 front windscreens and the side windows with 2 flat sides extending almost to the passenger doors.
Enough with round cockpit windows which are too wide..
Nose not right either

But i understand that most will buy it anyway since its the best there is in metaldiecast, herpa and hogan have a better reproduction.

As I said when the artwork was published, the underside of the engine nacelle is not correct, on PW engines, it should be parallel to the ground on most of its length.
I already published documents showing this ...

The window line at the end of the fuselage seems to go upward but not enough.

Window line and PAN AM titles are printed too high on the fuselage, to illustrate this, it is clear that the threshold of the over wing emergency exit is too high above the wing.

Cockpit window wrongly positioned, this may be the consequence of the nose shape.

A nose cone a little bit lower could be the remedy.

The best way to judge the quality and accuracy of a new mould is to add an airline livery on it, if it does not look right, most often, there is a problem with the mould.
When a new model is designed this should be tested as soon as possible before going too far with the tooling.

From what I can see, I am not convinced.

Jean Pierre.

adjustment to the printing position of the fuselage windows should be an easy quick fix surely, especially the rear cabin section which has the characteristic sloping upwards windows which are essential to the appearance of an Airbus A310 , fix these and it would be perfectly acceptable to me as long as its done before they do a Wardair and British Caledonian models.

Well it sure beats the HobbyMaster version! It's quite good, hopefully they perfect it for when they release Air Transat.

They completely flubbed the nose shape. Doesn't look right.
As for the printing, that is an easy fix, not a mold issue.
This one is not on my radar unless a Sabena or RJ 310-300 is made.

As Jan mentioned it is a lot better then the Hobbymaster. Sure the printing is not perfect but that's an easy fix. Landing gear looks very nice aswell as the wing box. Much better then the old JC A300 mold. First new mold releases are allways not as good as the later releases so let's hope she gets better in time. Hope to see the Delta in person soon.

Yes, it is an easy fix but the passenger windows should be on the same line as the cockpit windows which are too high because of a wrong nose shape.

In the end, it seems that the problem is the mould.

Obviously they took hobbymaster mould and re-designed the wing junction which is a huge improvement, but the whole nose and cockpit section is not really airbus.
Good thing the gears were reduced in size.

I attach a document showing the details of the vertical fin.

Another document shows that the fuselage diameter is 5.640 m

Most important aspect of any model is the nose section. If you can’t get that right don’t release it till you do. Disappointing!
Also, doesn’t the color look way off on the blue??

A big improvement over the HM version, but not yet willing to trade in my HM KLM A310-203 for a IF KLM one if ever made and some of the mentioned points are not being picked up by IF.

I know this is nit picking, however, as others have said the nose shape is wrong and I also noticed the engines are way low, almost on the ground..........not good.

I would hope they can correct both before they begin production.

?????

What in the extensive pictures provided by other members above makes you think this model hasn't already gone into production?

I have no idea but have seen pre-production samples on other models that were revised prior to release. It is not as unusual as it may seem.....

That was my first thought before I looked at the other details mentioned in this thread about nose shape, etc. It’s like a bright royal blue, bordering on cobalt. The real blue was a little bit more like a deep sky blue.

I remember the real thing, back in 1989, flying out of JFK and seeing these birds.

I do have the Hobby Monster version. I don’t mind it that much, though I know it’s been much derided.

Interesting that this version is without wingtip fences.

Kevin, it could be possible that the color will vary from the photos upon release. We can't tell by the photographer's offerings whether or not they properly set the white balance, or used a gray card, etc.

Also, judging solely by online images is never the same for everyone. That's because there are variations in screen set-up, hours of use, screen type (LED/OLED/Plasma/CRT), color balance, etc.

The only way to get a true representation of the color is either by asking InFlight what Pantone color code that they used, or by seeing the model in person. It's amazing how different the model will look vs how it appears on screen.

Here's a great example:

I took the image above and just by color-correcting the image, using the wings as middle-grey, notice how the hue has shifted to a more natural color. The original photo was heavy on the blue side.

Does it look better to you?

It is true that with the engines under the wings the ground clearance is reduced.

Depending on the aircraft weight and C/G conditions the height varies from 0.65 m to 0.79 m.

Translated in the 1/200 scale, it is not much.

Jean Pierre.

I would like the Compass Mark II version of this aircraft VH-YMI rego with a round circle Compass logo on the tail. Always operated in all white livery too until the end December 20th 1991. Here is the link : VH-YMI Airbus A310-304

I'll just stick to modifying Hasegawa A300s. It seems the diecast manufacturers, at least for 1/200, don't really care about getting the A310 right. I don't know the manufacturing process, but if a plastic model company can make a correct representation of a subject, why can't it be applied to diecast? With the price we are paying, we should not be accepting models that only closely resemble what they are supposed to be.

Color issues are all too common with Inflight 200.

For example, my Alitalia 742s' green is way too dark.

I believe that no changes will be made to the model, in its 737-200 so far, no changes have been made to this model either.
I am very fan of A310, I spent these months with a lot of expectations, but I am determined not to pay $ 100.00 for this model

Do not expect any change from Inflight.

I have tried to cooperate before they released their Caravelle.
I explained what was wrong on their "Comet", B 707-320, B 720 ...
The QANTAS B 707-138 ...
With no result, it was a waste of time.

Luckily, their A 320 and A 340 are quite good, to be honest, this must be said and repeated.

I love this livery too, maybe one day with another manufacturer ...

By the way, the aircraft has PW engines ...

I have to see more photos, but it appears if this is the final product, I am going to cancel the Pan Am and Delta A-310 I have on order. Engines dragging the ground are a bigger issue to me than the cockpit although that can be troublesome as well.

100% true, way to take away my complaining and whining........lol.

Make me look like some spoiled collector

Good point and certainly a voice of reason. Sometimes when we are looking forward to something and we have in our mind what it will be, we get a bit fussy......

That does not count for every model they make - having the 727 in mind....

I'm gonna go with Jean Pierre on this one. We already have a collection of images showing a completed model from various sources. If this Pan Am example doesn't suit you, then it's not the model for you. But future releases from InFlight may tweak things here and there. Time will tell.

Jean Pierre is correct. Listen to Jean Pierre.

Interesting they picked the -200 version when -300's were far more numerous and widely operated.

I think the mould looks reasonably accurate, would love to have one in THY colors.

A310 have same nose as A330, A340. So instead of just copy a good shape from their - or "leased" moulds (no problem with current technology, I assume) - they chose to make it wrong. Interesting..
