What is the difference between the A310-200 and -300? The winglets? Fuselage length was the same or not?

It seems to me, this is the nose from their a330s when I compare it to my inflight model.

Granted, the A310 nose is a little worse, maybe production related, but their A330/340 nose isn't perfect either.

Interestigly both manufacturers are not able to print a correct nosecone....actually there are only a few examples wher the cone i PRINTED correctly (mostly it is way too small).

Hi all

I am dying for an A310 in 1/200. Should I buy the IF or wait? Dai

Well after much thought I have cancelled my order for this aircraft. I realize these airplanes are not perfect and I do not expect them to be perfect, however it is a vast misrepresentation for an airplane to have the engines dragging the ground. I sincerely hope that in-flight fixes this on models of this aircraft going forward. It is a beautiful airplane, and I know there is a lot of potential with this mold. While I can accept some flaws, this one is definitely a dealbreaker.

I have not pulled the trigger on Inflight’s A310 either. I’d love to have some of the liveries that the A310 wore too.. I guess it could be said about every airline model, but planes like the A310, B727 have such distinct characteristics that it seems very difficult for manufacturers to fully capture more times than not, perhaps. Kudos to JCW/Gemini Inflight, Jet X, Phoenix, Aeroclassics, Herpa, etc to the times they got it right. But it seems, not this time.

A few collectors are so sensitive to every last detail that they miss out and take the fun out of collecting.

I have hundreds of models and could care less about nose shape, tail shape and everything else. Its a replica not the real thing. Buy the real thing if you want 100% accuracy. And please spare me the " buying a model with my hard earned money" pity. I guess the upside is, it makes what could be a hard to find model more available for those who want one as others have passed.

And seeing the status of the IF A310 at the shops shows that she is selling out very quick! So no bad model after all I reccon..

I find your comments towards the LGBTQ+ community rather insensitive and outright bigoted. Your favorite color doesn't happen to be orange, does it?

As a plastic modeler since 5 years old in which I have placed in many IPMS contests ( I am now 53), I agree with CV. No model is 100% accurate. It can't be. For being so OCD about 100% accuracy you will never be satisfied. I think the IF 310 is acceptable so I am going to order it. I know IF 727s don't look right but I bought the entire jelly bean Braniff series from CV. And I am glad that I did. Dai

If you have to blow up a photo and zoom in to find a flaw then it really isn’t a flaw as far as I’m concerned.

Careful, you might end up on DC-10_Tony's ignore list! We need to give him his own section of the forum where only he can read and post. The rest of the forum would be better off, and besides, it's only a matter of time until he has 99% of all DA.C members on his ignore list anyway.

I am in the minority perhaps but there are many ways to enjoy this hobby. My thought process is for the amount of money these 1:200 cost combined with the available technology to design accurate models, why are we accepting this as a good model? It has many, many errors that quite frankly make it hard to justify spending the price. My big question is why in 2019, are subpar models being released? Do manufactures truly care about their products to roll out inaccurate moulds? We have seen near perfection with recent moulds that predate this one... Honest question and I would very much like to know..

Honestly...I’ve seen you complain about the height of the nose gear of the NG CRJ200. If I remember correctly, you said it looked too much like in flight vs on the ground.

Honestly...are you really complaining about the accuracy of a nose gear where the nose tire barely comes halfway up your knee? Are we talking even a millimeter adjustment that you want on a 1/200 model?

Honestly...you need to build your own models to your own standards.

Found some interesting news on the manufacturers website, which seemed to be published this week:

"The A310 tooling we are modifying slightly at this time and this shall be ready to use in July with a new nose section being added to the model as well as a couple of other minor changes, thank you to those who have contacted us about this."

I find it great, that they react to the feedback immediately.
So I am looking forward with great suspense to their optimized version!

This sort of information is an important step in the right direction.
It is good for Inflight's image.
Hopefully, this won't be limited only to the A 310.

Sorry but to me, the passenger windows are too high on both models.

I attach a picture of a Delta aircraft.

That was the first thing I noticed as well Jean Pierre. Just note the gap between the bottom of the wing exit door and the upper surface of the wing. It was a problem on the previous version and it's still there.
It doesn't look like lowering the window line only will solve that. You'd end up having to move the cockpit windows down as well, then you run into mould issues.
The nose looks much better.

310s look goofy. Let's get us an A300/A300B4 mould.

Having made a few models from scratch or having tried to modify existing moulds
I can understand that it is difficult to capture the shape of an aircraft ...

...but in the past, some manufacturers with little money and limited possibilities were successful in making convincing models without all the problems we are talking about on the forum.

Just look at this model, I don't remember exactly, maybe Wooster or PPC, more than 40 years old, more than basic, a toy, but I am very tempted to do something with it.

Pictures taken during breakfast time.

That's what I thought too but it is difficult to see something wrong from the head on views of the models.

I removed the wing of my model, we clearly see the position of the wing.

Elitists? 'Discerning collectors' would be more accurate.

I think he's off his meds, almost trumpian incoherent babble.

Anyways, the latest pics from IF still show an inferior mold compared to G200. Whilst the nose looks better, the engines are still over-sized, wing is too low which then exaggerates the nacelle dragging and window line too high look.

Furthermore, the twin ADF antennas look like bricks on the fuselage roof.

The windowline should be printed on the same heigth as the windows on the pax doors. And on the Inflight model the windowline is printed much higher.
