Greetings, as I mentioned earlier in my Aer Lingus B707 thread that I would share another bird on the DAC with a touch of green in it's livery. I figured that a Convair 880M classic model from my Cathay Pacific fleet would work. I was enlightened by my mother that my uncle used to fly this particular airframe when he would travel to Hong Kong on business from Manila. Must have been a much more pleasant form of air travel, compared to what we get today. Cheers! T7

Certainly the CX of those years way back was a different creature from the 'thing' it has now evolved into (out of necessity I suppose)
I believe we would have been on one of CX's CV880 on our first family trip/pilgrimage 'back' to Hong Kong during my toddler years, via Manila I understand
Very nostalgic to note 'Jesselton' and 'Brunei' - as opposed to 'Kota Kinabalu (BKI)' and Bandar Seri Begawan (BWN) nowadays
There used to be a HKG-BWN-BKI-HKG or HKG-BKI-BWN-HKG triangular route alternating between different days of the week in those days. The BWN-BKI and BKI-BWN must have been extremely challenging for the cabin crew, they did manage a full 'drinks service' during the 10-15 minutes flight
I have one of these as part of my collection of airlines I have flown on. I remember flying in one of these CX CV880s, on the same route that your uncle flew. This was in 1979. I was young, life was simple and yes, flying was pleasant and a civilised way to travel even when you were flying coach. Thanks for the memories.

Lovely model and great pics. I also love the box artwork. Great catch T7
Much appreciated, Aussiejets! I thought it was time I got off my butt to share some photos on the DAC once again, but wanted to share some of my models that have not been posted before on the DAC with deserving photos/angles of the model. I have been content to viewing your fantastic photos on the DAC along with other established DAC collectors and the newbies as well during the past year or so. Cheers! T7

Thank you, Maarlandair. I agree it's always a pleasure to see some classic/retro models on the DAC that manufacturers released many eons ago. Yes, always cool to collect models that have memories associated with it, and it's one of my main criteria for collecting. T7
All the best to you with the hobby!
