Default Models Stolen

Just over a week ago I had a significant portion of my 1/200 collection stolen along with some accessories and plastic kits.

The collection was being stored in a nearby climate controlled storage facility. Some other units were targeted as well. Just a random act, but now these guys are in possession of some fairly rare and expensive diecast models. Everything taken was right up front and they were just interested in grabbing what they could in the least amount of time. I'm sure they have no idea of the value and just want to dump them for drug money as soon as they can.

A police report has been filed and an investigation is underway, but I'm not sure how seriously they dive into these things considering murders go unsolved. That said whoever has them better hope the cops find them before I do.

I have little hope of recovering the models and most likely will not even attempt to replace them on my own just due to availability/cost, but I have posted the list here in case anybody sees anything come up for sale which would be rare under normal circumstances as you can tell by the list. I will be periodically checking eBay, Craigslist, local pawn shops, etc myself as well.

I'm very sorry to hear that. Hope you'll eventually have your models returned.

That's horrible. Does at least the insurance pay for the loss?

Exactly, maybe if you post a list of your stolen items members here might be able to identify the models if they pop up on ebay or something as set? I dont know but maybe worth a try.

It sucks for Sobchak and that's about all there is to say from me but for everyone else...it really helps to have photos of your models and not just a spreadsheet for insurance. When I first started to make sure of coverage continuity between houses, storage unit, etc... it was explained to me that I need to have photographs to prove ownership. So before I boxed everything up, I just went around the house and took pictures of every shelf.

I hear ya. Very nerve racking experience after we moved out east, and I had to put all the models in a storage facility for a few weeks. I made it my mission to visit that facility 2-3 times a day for peace of mind on my end. Very sorry to hear about the OP's loss.

I really believe in "karma". Stealing someone's property is 100% totally unacceptable. That list has some lovely models. I will have a good look at your list, and see if I can assist in replacement. No promises, but I will have a look at it. To the perpetrator:

Greatly tragic.

The idiots will more than likely offer the models up for sale somewhere and have them associated with just one name/seller. That, I imagine, is a giveaway.

Maybe not all at once, but when "Methhead_N_Planes" is the seller with "000" feedback on eBay pops up, I'll be sure and grab this list and get back with you, WSobchak.

Sorry to hear of this. I would lose my collecting mind.

Don’t say that! This thread could be used as evidence, and making threats could get you in trouble. Defense attorneys will grill you over it, if let’s say these thieves get harmed physically or whatever.

Post your location (sorry if I missed it) so everyone can be on the look out. The thieves will sell or trade to someone, unless they’re just collectors...
