Default Herpa C-5M (My two cents)

Figured I would start a new thread as opposed to adding on to previous. My Herpa C-5M arrived a couple of weeks ago. All in all, I thought it was an okay release. (Grossly overpriced) I was really bummed out by the tail decal placement and the green and red wing marker lights. So the old saying: "when life gives you lemons, make lemon aid" was in effect. So I made some modifications and am pleased with the results. It displays nicely and I am pleased to have it in my collection. Maybe someday Gemini will give us a diecast version. Here are a couple of pics:

Here is size comparison with her C-17 sister:

Congrats on your C-5M model. Damn, for a second I thought the 2nd pic was the 1:1 plane with the military ground support equipment! Kudos to you for making a couple of modifications on your end, in order for your expectations to be met. Thank you for sharing on the DAC. Cheers! T7 (I am also hoping for a G200 release of this model, and maybe it will be rolled out for Christmas, hee hee!)

I like mine, though it is resin. Paid $260 shipped, I saw others were paying much more. I figured at this price I would check it out in-person.

Nice pics, thanks for sharing.

The color is different.... I actually think the herpa is closer to accurate.

I am also hoping for a Christmas release.... lets start that rumor right here!

Thanks Guys... Brian

Believe it or not, the color differences are very common in the actual fleet.

The planes see a lot of sun, and the grey does bleach out. Not everything is fresh out of the paint barn.

Excellent photos! That second photo is very cool with the figures.

What material are you using for your apron?

Beautiness indeed. I have both the Herpa and the PCM and love them both. The landing gears on the PCM model sit much lower though. I guess it has 2 M1 Abrams main battle tanks in its cavernous belly. Great pictures!

Photos look great. Is it really a decal like what you get with plastic model kits or is it printed?

I custom painted an old counter top. It was very easy.

I had Draw Decals resize their 1/144 set. They do a great job

Very nice! I just got the G200 Dover C-17 and think it’s pretty cool, but the C-5 is the ultimate huge aircraft in the US fleet! Great job on your rework as well!

Well, I was leaving HNL last week and to my surprise was able to see this beauty soaking up the Hawaiian Sun before heading back to Travis.
