Default Herpa snap-fit Norwegian 787-9

On 28 January I ordered this from Scale Model Store given Herpa's snap-fit line will not be available in America. It arrived exactly two weeks from the date I ordered it, which I think is good. This is the first 1:200 scale model I've purchased since late 2015! At long last, I have a model of an actual aircraft I've flown on. Now, if only I could own a model of one of the four Virgin 789s I've flown on and I'm crossing my fingers there is a model of one of the BA 744s I'll be flying on in June and of the Virgin 789 I'll be flying on in November that will transport me to my new hometown of London.

Anywho, I didn't really know what to expect from this line of models from Herpa. I knew they didn't have landing gear and I suspected that the level of detail would not be as good as more expensive models. I was correct about the latter. It does not have the various antennas which is also fine with me, as it's just something else that could become detached and possibly lost. And as a former collector of Hogan, Herpa, and Rise Soon/Skymarks models, I'm accustomed to it. I wish that the fan blades and exhaust cones were painted correctly and I wish the engine nacelles had printed details but for €24.00 shipped I cannot and will not complain. Apologies for the cr^p photos, but I'm now living in a small studio flat and it's in the 30s here (Seattle) with snow so I'm not about to take it outside to photograph. For those wondering why I didn't buy the Herpa pre-assembled version, I didn't want to move a large model in November.

Herpa snapfits are basic push fit models unlike Hogan or Risesoon, which tend to add details here and there these days. But a very good buy there Randy. Love their livery. I have the Hogan example including their MAx8.

Yeah, after seeing this one, I feel the Herpa snap-fit models are about the same as the early Skymarks only with silver-painted wing/horizontal stabs leading edges and engine intakes. It'll look fine on a shelf and I won't have to be concerned about dust. I can wipe it down easily and not be concerned about snagging an antenna.

The Herpa snap-fit plastic model are the cheaper then their normal fully assemble models. Some of the assemble MD-11, A320 & B747-8 has antenna and all models come with fixed landing gears rubber tires.

They are slightly different moulds, though, I assume, given the assembled models have a hole for the front landing gear. And are the antennas a part of the mould and not glued on?

Here are a couple more photos that are a bit better than what I posted last night.

I had to go for a 1:250 LImox push fit to get a DLH A346 that I flew on. That one doesn't even have the engine strakes. But for the money and sentimental value of the aircraft it's pretty decent.

Congrats on finding a model of it! I'm trying to find a model of a BA B772ER so I can modify it with a registration number of an aircraft I flew on, G-BIIA. All of the models produced with G-BIIA registration have the World Tail. I'm at a point where I'd consider 1:250 as well, but I'd prefer 1:200 snap-fit.

Coincidentally, my brother bought me a DLH A350 in 1:250 when he was in Germany recently. So at least it's not a complete one-off.

I was able to find a DLH A380 i flew on in both 1:400, and 1:200. I ordered a Limox 1:100 which had no registration and bought decals for the plane name and reg.

The weirdest acquisition of a plane flown on was years ago buying one of two AC 1:400 British Caledonian BAC 111s. For some reason I never thought to check the tail numbers before buying, and just picked one at random.

Years later I looked at the tail number and checked one of my flight logs and found that the model was the exact plane I flew on--the one and only time having flown on a BCal BAC 111. Pretty crazy.

That is so awesome! I wish I had written down the registration numbers of aircraft I've flown on. I only have four documented, and those are within the past couple years. I'd like to have the registrations for the other four just to see if there are models of them out there. I posted in the 1:1 section about flightradar24 hoping someone with a paid subscription could help but no one has stepped forward. I may sign up for a free 7 day trial then cancel after I look up the registrations.
