I didn't know if this one has been brought up before, but IKEA has a great steel and glass shelf display case..Assembly is a breeze and as you can see it can hold quite a few models (over 50 here)...Only problem is that displaying this many models at once creates lots of empty boxes
As you can see mine are laying on the floor with the models glued to them..Makes for better viewing, however you can assemble yours straight up and down..
That looks quite nice..What I like about this shelving is that the sides are all open allowing to squeeze more in with the tails and wings sticking out..Need all the room we can get

Yes that's right, never enough place for displaying our models

Thanks for the pictures crownvic. I like seeing the displays from us forum members. I have stayed with the detolfs because of the price obviously, and I like the door for dust reasons and minimal obstructed frame. I wish ikea or whoever could take the best of both the detolf and VITTSJO cabinets and make it happen!

...but lets the models collect dust! Needs glass all round for me to purchase!

I use the Glass Curio Cabinets but i'm not so happy with them because even with the glass all around, dust can & will still cloud all the models on display..
I totally agree that glass is the way to go but the costs skyrocket. This is just an affordable way to display a large amount of models using combined metal and glass shelving..

I protect my Detolfs with brush seal tape. It works really great against dusting.

I have many BILLY bookcases but some of the planes are being replaced by Funko POP figures
Haha, I'm having the same issues, but I'm still trying to figure out a way to display both collections! I've had to reduce model plane intake temporarily, but the Pop collection is still growing by the day, lol

I have two of the Vittsjo shelves as well. I think they are a good product at a decent price. I considered the Detolf but price won out. Fortunately it is not very dusty where my planes are displayed. Frankly, I worry more about trying to make sure they stay out of the sunlight.
Okay, the website only has one and not the right type. This time of year (January) they are usually in the Costco stores for the month. This is where I bought all mine.
Here is the link to Pulaski to see the different models. You can find nice discounted ones at furniture stores in your area.
You can order extra shelves for the units. The sides have holes for shelve pins so you can set the spacing. Newer ones have the fiber dust strips to keep the dust out!
I believe I have 10 to 12 shelves for the 4 curios I have. When I collected 1:400 I was able to place approximately 450 planes in a variety of air-frames up to 747 in one curio.

Price is just $79.00 model name: VITTSJO
Nice collection, Russ.
