Default Meet the Sun King, my 25h B747, National B747-135!

Hey all

Here my 25th Boeing 747, which is also one of three B747's I bought in November

Boeing 747-135
National Airlines "Golden Sun King Livery (1970-1975)"
✈️
N7772
Scale 1:200
Inflight 200

Limited Edition 1 of 36 pcs (if not mistaken)

So here some photo's of the box, which have a lovely name mismatch hah, IF 200 named it a Boeing 747-200, which it's actually a Boeing 747-100!

Here the Box Contents:

Here pics of the model it's self, this one was very hard for me to find and it surely wasn't cheap either, but all in all it was well worth getting just love the looks of this classic livery and it's one of the lesser known ones as well, that 747 logo on it surely made my love for it even greater <3

Also note the SATCOM in place:

just love this livery so classy, kind of miss these classic liveries these days

This is my favorite photo so far, which I also use for my wallpaper

took this photo from above, a member in my Boeing 747 Community did a similar photo from their Robinson R44 Helo with a QANTAS B747-438ER's head from this top view, so I thought lets do the same with this classic National B747-135 and yeah it worked out well

Gotta love that 747 logo and Sun King written in the 4

Here that awesome Sun King Tail art, such epicness

Here some stand shots, this one also showing the name incorrectly placed on it's Limited Edition card as Boeing 747-200 instead of Boeing 747-100 as it should of been:

And a lovely closeup:

Here the National B747-135 together with the Continental B747-124, both make a very matching set:

my most epic looking and most classy looking Boeing 747's:

National B747-135 & Continental B747-124:

And here the final display:

A classic song from the 1970's with this classic plane!

Great looking pair. Back in the days when every airline wanted to be part of the 747 club nd liveries were memorable. Thanks for posting.

Those were the days! Nice addition to your collection. I added this one earlier this year before it disappeared from retailers. Thanks for pointing out the "Sun King" in the 4...maybe time for 1/100 scale as my eyesight is going!

The Airline did..... the two 747s NAL operated went to NW after only 5 years of service. DC-10s were better suited for NALs routes. I wish i had ordered this model back when it was on pre-order.

Many thanks for all your kind replies everything <3
National & Continental always had that idea in mind actually, their liveries really make sense and look great together too

Now I will mke two more reviews of the following two:

QANTAS B747-238B VH-EBQ "City of Bunbury" "Spirit of Australia Livery 1984-2001"
South African Airways B747-312 ZS-SAJ "Ndizani" "Atlanta Summer Olympic & Nelson Mandela Liberation Livery 1996"

But as two separate threads, November has been very nourishing for my B747 collection

Was worth getting even it was very hard to find, that with it's high price makes it all worth the challenge to beat
As for the Continental B747-124, yeah they make a great set, their liveries really match well

That is a very nice model that National and great livery too. I like the 747 titles above L1 & R1. A great catch and well done. GL

Yeah this model is a beauty to obtain, also note the SUN KING name in the 4:

Such details make it look complete too

I finally scored one new in the box for a reasonable price Gold Leader. All i need now is for AC200 to release a Sunking DC-8. Note the letter sent on National on its inaugural flight to London with APOLLO 11 moon landing stamps on it.

Just an FYI, this particular Queen used to be called "Patricia." I'm not sure if it was before or after the Sun King moniker though.

It was Sunking 747 initially, then with the "fly me" campaign, she wore the name Patricia. later... her name was changed to Jacquelyn. Sister ship N77773 was Elizabeth and later changed to Linda.

Hey DC-8 Dude! AWESOME FIND

hah very cool that you found one, I have to admit these B747-135's are a true pain to find tbh, and I know mine wasn't cheap with the shipping, insurance, handling and custom taxes I paid around 345 Eur around 386.80 USD which was pretty crazy for me last year but well worth it to be honest no one else had one cheaper at the time and there were like only 2 on ebay so yea just went mental and bought it

And yes N77772 was later named Patricia but her first name was SUN KING written neatly in her 747 logo, that is my coolest aspect of this model and still my most favored B747-100 of my entire collection as well.

Also I made new photo's of the NAL B747-135 with the COLB747-124 with Black Meatball here:

Boeing 747-135
National Airlines "Sun King Livery 1970-1975"
N77772 "SUN KING"
Scale 1:200
Inflight 200

Limited Edition 1 of 36pcs

N77772 was later named "Patricia" during NAL's "Fly Me" campaign.
Credits go to DC-8 Dude for this vital info

--------------------------
----------
Boeing 747-124
Continental Airlines "Gold Tail Livery Black Meatball 1970-1972"
N26864 "Sir Robert F. Six"
Scale 1:200
Inflight 200

Pre-Production Sample 1 of 10pcs

Just a perfect match those two, both are from 1970 as well, definitely the golden age of flying.

Also NAL had the Douglas DC-10-31 as well with the Sunking Livery:
https://www.ebay.ie/itm/Gemini-Jets-GJNAL169-National-DC-10-30-1-400-scale-N82NA-model-air-plane-avion/283577716158?

As you can see there, just a shame it's 1:400 and not 1:200, which is our desired scale.

Yet I did find the DC-8-51 with the NAL Sun King Livery but also 1:400 :X
https://www.diecastairplane.com/stor...ing-1-400.html

Which is this little fella:

Interestingly, National used black Sun King lettering on the "4" of at least one 747. In their company magazine, National Reporter October - November 1970, the attached picture shows Captain Roger Whitaker waving as he had piloted one of their 747s as a retirement present.

The second picture shows N77773 with the black lettering. Maybe, both -135s started with black lettering and were soon changed to orange lettering.

I just made this a few moments ago. I was lookin' around for a nice NA logo and had no luck, so I made one. I know it's not perfect, but I tweaked the font as best I could to simulate the actual typeface.

Cheers

This is very cool maybe an idea for Inflight to do a Limited Release with Black SUN KING lettering for N77773

Thanks for passing this on, super cool info!

Wow you did great man! Looks good to me, dunno what you find wrong of it though

If you look at how the colors are of my NAL B747-135's tailfin, seems all good to me

Well I was most probably confused with a GeminiJets 400 NAL DC-8-51 then, heh.
As this one goes:

yet it was hard to see due to the small picture, oh well.

Here a seller with a bunch of these on ebay:
https://www.ebay.ie/itm/Gemini-Jets-...s/153248928273

there are others as well, this would be a cool one to have at 1:200.

I saw them on ebay for $8 usd. Gemini made a trillion of them. but the one you pictured looks like aeroclassics, that's not GJ quality....

Yeah link was just an example of what I meant, would be nice if GeminiJets 200 made these for us 1:200 model collectors I am pretty sure they will do very well.

Or a NAL B747-123 but with the reg N77773 "Linda" and a different logo on the head of the B747 instead of 747 SUN KING

That could work.
