10 years since my first Gemini 200

It's been 10 years now since I got my first Gemini. I also got an IF200 Aloha 737-200 but that was my second IF. It still looks pretty good in my opinion. Although I did eventually swap it out my original because mine had a small paint smudge.

Such a beautiful model for your first.

Got me thinking, 2019 will be 10 years for me with the original first purchase still on its stand in my display cabinet.

What's funny is those original GJ 757s were better than current releases.

That's so true. Even though the landing gears broke easily, they were much more accurate than later releases and the fan blades used to spin.

Congrats on 10 years of collecting! I like the diorama also. Those first releases from Gemini were awesome, especially the 737 and 757. Their attention to the details on the wheel hubs and good quality fan blades made the models especially nice. I hope we get another shot at an American 757 in the polished livery. Thanks for sharing with us!

I personally don’t really care about the gear or spinning fan blades. I have however Persia lily been receiving more crooked 757 gear than from what I remember in years passed.

I also did have two 757’s with rot. A TWA that I got rid of a few years ago and a Delta widget that I still have.

See just like you i also had problems with one of my early Gemini 200 757 models, it was also what you just mentioned 'metal rot' that affected the model, it was the popular Delta Widget 757 that i had purchased 10 years earlier. Funny i had even made a thread about it, to try to explain the problem to others but i was almost crucified for doing so by certain members on this forum...

Yeah, mine has gotten a little worse since I first noticed it. I hope they'll redo it because I'll definitely replace mine. If not then I have been thinking about what to do with it later on. I think the fuselage is fine so I might just try and replace the wings and swap out the engines or just get some decals if the engines are already white. I added decals to the the 767 widget which for some reason didn't have a widget on both sides of the engines. That was about the easiest fix I've ever done with these things.

Agree with the original 757 releases... they where the best... I think I am probably closing in on the 10 year mark also having made the jump to 1:200 from 1:400... The Gemini200 Frontier A319 Wolf Tail was my first Gemini200... Still one of my favourites

Approaching my first 200 10th anniversary as well...Feb 15, 2009. But it was an IF200...IF744016 United Airlines B744 Tulip. I saw it first at the Airplane Shop in Miami, but I bought it at Wingsworld in Shanghai when they ran their business out of that small apartment. Good memories!
