Default New Cabinets - First 84 Birds on Display

Finally!! My United, Pan Am, and Cargo fleets are in cabinets in my office. These are the rest of my domestics and two of my all time favorites. British Air et al and Virgin Atlantic.

The fun part is with an acrylic spacer I can get two planes on each shelf which will total 168 planes. I'll think about that plan at a later date.

Just curious, do you have special led lighting? Or not? Spot lights can harm the models specially the ones right under ?!....
Fantastic presentation!

Beautifully displayed and a formidable collection. Who made that Evergreen 747? Custom?
Really well presented

The Evergreen may be an Inflight LE model.. I recently sold a similar one..

Great display cases..

Well done !!!

Regarding the boxes, I didn't put my glass cabinets direct at the wall.

I kept 1.5 m distance and could so hide perfectly all the model boxes behind them...

Never heard about that before. Why would that be? Because of the generated heat or are there specific wavelengths which can do harm?
Can anyone confirm from own experience that this is indeed true?

I am curious as well. Also how bad is natural light from outside?

I have blackout curtains in my home office which are closed for early day sun but opened later in the day. Haven’t noticed any damage over time. But read that furniture and such can fade from outside light.

I would also like to express my concern of post #5 from Retroguy. If it was me with cabinets as in your photo's lovely as they are, top shelf would never have a model that close to a powerful down light but this is clearly your choice of risk

My point exactly!
Spot lights ( I think its called that way?!) if not LED can get real hot....the models on the very top shelf are that close to it...unless you dont have the lights on all the time, this should be "ok"...but I supose the beauty of this whole set is indeed to leave the lights on, right?
Again, it depends on the type of lamp you are using....didnt mean to "burst your bubble" I think this is the right expression?!.....

Thank you all for the compliments and lighting warnings. The lights are LED and this cabinet is in my garage. The lights are not on daily and will only be on when I'm showing someone the planes. Not often. Unless of course you guys all want to stop on by!

Outstanding collection with a wonderful display. I would not be able to get any work done, I would always be looking at the display.

I can only imagine what the custom shelving cost, but the results are very impressive. I hope you get a bulk discount on the acrylic risers!

Looks great Kelso49, love it! Only thing I would recommend is running the appropriate thickness of foam weather stripping along the surfaces where the door closes to keep most of the dust out, if a gap exists when the doors are closed. You can get different colors so it's not an eyesore. It's a relatively cheap job, but does a tremendous job of dust reduction. I've done it to both of my large sliding door cabinets for my 1/400 collection, works great!
