Default SCA 747 with Endeavour Space Shuttle

This is a departure for me. Usually I make a model and then it is released in diecast. (Hughes Airwest DC-9, Frontier 737, United Express EMB 120 and most recently the P-8) A few years back this 747 was released in diecast and I was thrilled, but was not pleased with the release and decided to try my own. This model is far from perfect, but does looks okay in my military case. I modeled it to represent the Shuttle's "last flight" to Los Angeles. It is a Hasegawa Kit from a few years back with Draw Decals. Here are some pics:

It's always fun to try something different. Maybe someday we will get a good diecast version, but now she will have to do. Brian

A bit off topic, I apologize ...

It was in the early 50s.

Thank you for your interest in these aircraft.

May I suggest you to go to the Custom Made Models section, second page, top of the page.

Check out "Leduc 021 and Languedoc".

Jean Pierre.

Will check out yours too JP. The 747 and the shuttle look great imo. Who released the diecast version and why was it a faillure? Anybody some pics? Would explane why only one came out then..

iirc inflight made them. some listed them under BLUEBOX. 4 were done. shuttle position was too far back/ and the shuttle itself was a poor rendition according to most collectors. I did have one at one time, but deleted pics after u sold it on.. I+ DISCOVERY. think there was ATLANTIS, ENDEAVOUR, ENTERPRISE

found a picture on ARD site.

correct. slightly annoying thing was the BOX ART showed shuttle in correct position. yet put it too far back.

Yes can see the difference now between the kit and the model. Also the vertical stabalizers on the tail are crooked. .the shuttle is not the best either on the diecast model..

Lovely photos Brian and great modeling skills I also have this Hasegawa Kit but never built it. I was hoping to do a nicer shuttle for the diecast 747 SCA I have. I doubt very much we will ever see another diecast version of this subject as a box as large as this aircraft & shuttle set as postage / shipping charges are through the roof. Above a standard size of most postal services in every country.

Maybe you could try and fit hobbymasters new shuttle, it is very nice but then you have to make the aerodynamic cover for the engines your self...
