Hello fellow collectors, we have a rare opportunity to to get a Dassault Mercure kit in 1:200 scale. I've been talking to Christopher Sayer of Shed Models, who some of you already know. The kit will be up to £40.
1 - The kit will be resin
2 - The gear will be resin or metal (more expensive but preferable imo)
3 - Decals and box are included
4 - Air Inter was the only operator, they had 4 liveries during its life, there are other schemes that I found online including 2 prototypes that prototype collectors may like, and some special schemes some others may like, but I suspect you would have to design/alter on your own
If you are interested in one or more kits, list it below. If you know someone who is not a forum member, does not speak english, or whatever, list it along with your request. As Chis told me, french aircraft are his worst sellers, so he needs a fairly large commitment to ensure he does not lose money.
I've been collecting since 2001, and believe this will be our best opportunity to get one in our scale in the foreseeable future.
If you have any questions, you can email Chris directly at [email protected]
I'd be interested in one of these kits, maybe two.
Will decals be provided for all four liveries, or only one of them ?
On my initial enquiry he mentions decal costs as a factor in the overall cost to produce the kit. I agree with you that all four liveries should be included to make it more marketable, but more expensive. I plan on waiting a little while for a few more questions to send aat the same time. His email is listed above if you want to contact him directly, he replies very quickly. If you do, you can let us all know right here.
can he makes other models too? I think if he's willing to do business jets, he would pretty much have a huge market all to himself.
The price can be up to £60 plus shipping
This is a resin kit that you have to assemble yourself, wether the gear will be resin or metal depends on the weight of the assembled model, metal gear will cost more but worth it imo, and his models don't feature removable gear.
He and his friends make many, many 1:200 models, just check out the Brabazon constructed in the custom section by Air France A340.
Go to Shed Models website - The One True Scale click on the newsletters for models made and prices, and gallery for some photos.

These specialize in little known aircraft that no major manufacturer would touch. If you don't find what you like you would have find a significant number of commitments for them to go through the process and cost of make a new model. Contact them and see what they say.
Just spoke with Chris and a few issues we have. Firstly it's a french airline, only one airline makes this a very niche product. In order for this to proceed we need 20 firm commitments, as in a deposit will be required. Also DAC has a notorious reputation for having people saying they want 1, 2, 7 etc and never following through, remember the Brabazon and C172. That leaves him in the hole big time. If you are willing to pay a deposit before the process starts, then we have a chance, we have a long way to go.
Bring this thread back to life to see if there is any more interest.
In Chris' latest newsletter he mentions that he has 12 commitments so far, so only 8 to go. I think we are doing well as we are more than half way there.
If you are interested and are willing to put down a deposit, and you haven't already done so, you must let Chris know by email at, [email protected]
