Absolutely stunning!! This would be the first Queen I'd consider with the flaps down version. Very well-suited for the final United 747 flight.

All most perfect. I prefer the Cathay version as the engine nacelles have more detailing than this model's PW engines. Still quite an ace model!

How come the outboard slats are white vs the inboard which is grey? Have this also on the CX model.

Is there going to be 4 releases? N121UA with/without the flaps deployed and N118UA with/without flaps deployed?

No doubt about it, JCW makes a GREAT 747 model, and these two are no exception.

Beautiful models. I was worried that the flaps on the 'flaps down version' of the 747 wouldn't looks good because of the all the detail on the tripple slotted flaps on the real thing but the flaps down model looks really nice! Only nit to pick is the nose gear still looks a hair too long, making the aircraft sit slightly nose high in the pics. Other than that, these models are pretty close to perfection.

Really nice job JCW.

Beautiful picture showing the F-GEXA on final turn at Hong Kong Kai Tak, runway 13 ...

Thank you Steve for your kind words.
I understand that Herpa is about to produce this model in 1/400.

I am running out of space but for such a model in 1/200 scale, I may find a solution or another Detolf ...

Northwest livery is beautiful.

When the AF B 747-400s were approaching their retirement, Socatec anticipated that the F-GITD could be the aircraft assigned to the last commercial flight.
They commissioned a model of the F-GITD for this occasion.

In fact it was the F-GITH which made the last commercial flight from MEX to CDG.
A few days later, two B 747-400s made two farewell flights overflying France, the F-GITD and the F-GITH, I don't remember which one was the last.
These last two flights were not really commercial flights.

The Socatec / Inflight F-GITD was available a few days after the retirement of the AF aircraft, charging an exorbitant price, but for me, the last true commercial flight was made by the F-GITH between MEX and CDG.

I am tempted to say that for Socatec, making money from the event was more important than the release of a model with the correct rego.

Now that you mentioned it... I didn't notice this detail so far.

Some real 747s seem to have white outboard slats but on this model I think the white color isn't correct.

Has the flaps-down N118UA been for sale / pre-order already at U.S. retailers? I see N121UA available, but not N118UA.

A Kai Tak approach was the first thing i thought when i saw that pictures.

Great Job JC wings on the flaps down! I hope we see more of these, perhaps on the Qantas Wunala Dreaming (the one with RR engines?!)

Lovely Models there Johan Chan, my friend Captain Ed Mitchell who flew United B747's for 21 years would love to see this model Yet when he flew the B747-422 he had the Battleship Gray/Blue livery

Your JC Wings team did a great job on these

May The Queen of the Skies Be With You Always!

I'm up for that one too. But as far as I remember it was F-GITJ the B744 used for that last transatlantic flight. Final flight January 10th, 2016.

Awesome job on this model. I think it would be great to see the pre-merger 2004 United tulip livery. It would sell out pretty quickly.

I pre ordered these November 2017. Received them both yesterday. Love them. The flaps down is awesome with the removable gear. I just wish it wouldn't take so long for JC Wings to produce these once announced.

Sorry to blow the dust off an old thread, but I'm surprised there is such high praise for the UAL flaps down models when they clearly painted the outboard slats the wrong color? Supply of these is dwindling and as much as I would love to get one, I just know those slats are going to bother me every time i see them. Do you think these could be successfully repainted?

Yeah noticed it after I received mine. It's a very nice model and on display in my living room. I've learned to live with the inaccuracy of that.

Doesn't look like it would be easy to remove the slats for painting.

Yes—that should be done in enough quantities so more can have one. I remember gazing at one of those from the lounge at CdG on our departure to home in 2006. That was a very special trip for me. Very special. Would be nice.
