Default 1/200 Unique Model

I got this in the mail a few weeks ago as a gift..just opened it..
COMAC C919...

Overall not a bad model..lots of detail..But what I found most interesting was being able to study the C919 close up and personal from all different angles. This aircraft is symbolic of what the Chinese do best and that is copy..Having just returned from China the latest is seeing a new wave of copycat automobiles with the real manufacturers logos stuck on to make it look like the real deal.

This plane has the nose of the A350, the fuselage of an A320 and the tail cone of a 737Max. They basically combined several planes into one..see for yourself..

A very interesting model. Same ‘copying’ phenomenon with the COMAC ARJ121 I think.

At some point and to a certain extent you always end up having a familiar design as there is no groundbreaking new discoveries to expect in aviation technology and design. You can't cheat physics and aerodynamics. Sooner or later you'll always come to a design that looks like those we already have. I'm not a huge fan of China's aggressive behavior to get big in all industry branches but I can't blame them for this design.

That reasoning is the one I’ve used in many arguments with those who claim that the Tu144 was a direct copy of the Concorde, function dictates form etc, etc.

Exactly... Tu-144 (Concorde) anyone? How about the MIG-25 Foxbat (F-15)?

Ummm ... sorry on that one, the MIG 25 first flew in 1964 whereas the F-15 took flight in 1972.

Picked one up myself last week from Threshold. Surprised to see it there. Nice to place beside "western" narrow bodies to compare...
