Great photo's Vandan thank you. It's good to see some 747's hitting the market. I am very sure you meant 747-300 in the thread title so no need to correct. Well you cant anyways I have tried before myself. I wounder when JCW might use their 747 mould again. Any of them?

Fantastic pictures full of life, just like the real thing.

Steve, this B 747 looks like a B 747-300, in fact it is a B 707-206B SUD.
Basically a -200 which was modified with a Stretched Upper Deck.
Always misleading …

Jean Pierre.

I thought 747-SUD (Stretched Upper Deck) was the name given by Boeing to the 747-300 project before it was officicaly named and for sale for the market by Boeing as 747-300 but there you go. Thanks Jean Pierre

Beautiful set up.Several klm 747-200's went back to boeing for a stretched upper deck and became 200's SUD. Brining them up to the standards of the 300.

Not sure that many aircraft were modified …
Two -200s for UTA.
Ten -200s for KLM.
Two -100s for JAL.

Jean Pierre.
I pulled out my Boeing Bible I attach a photo of the book and the date on the passes of the best day of my life going through the Boeing Everett factory. It was also the date I purchased this book in the Boeing store. The reference I refer to is on page 204 of this book. "On 12 June 1980 Boeing announced the second generation of 747s. The first of the new series were similar to the standard 747-100/747-200 configuration but where immediately recognizable by upper deck stretch by 23 feet, 4-inches. This translated to an increase in upper deck passenger capability from 32 to 91 in an all economy-configuration or 26 seats in a first class sleeper configuration.

Originally designated as 747-EUD Extended Upper Deck, the new bird went into service as the 747-300. The first flight of the 747-300 came on 5 October 1982 with initial deliveries to Swissair and UTA of France coming on the 28 March and 1 April 1983 respectively. Both "SR" and "Combi" versions of the 747-300 were available. By January 1989, a total of 80 of the big aircraft had been put into service. In May 1985, Boeing announced a second extended upper deck 747 version to be built known as the 747-400. This was same size as a 747-300 but had a glass instrument cockpit with just two flight deck crew and winglets. Needless to say, with the 747-400 announcement by Boeing, the orders for the 747-300 finished with just the total of 80 units made". Qantas purchased six 747-300's.

and I am not saying that this book covers everything either. I have found some very interesting info as Jean Pierre said about the 747SUD

in Wikipedia. Although I don't like this source very much

The 747 line was further developed with the launch of the 747-300 in 1980. The 300 series resulted from Boeing studies to increase the seating capacity of the 747, during which modifications such as fuselage plugs and extending the upper deck over the entire length of the fuselage were rejected. The first 747-300, completed in 1983, included a stretched upper deck, increased cruise speed, and increased seating capacity. The -300 variant was previously designated 747SUD for stretched upper deck, then 747-200 SUD,[84] followed by 747EUD, before the 747-300 designation was used.[85] Passenger, short range and combination freighter-passenger versions of the 300 series were produced.[81]

Sorry Vandan

Interesting info! According to my late uncle, who was a pilot, KLM did the stretching of the upper deck to make them look like the new 300 and because the stretched upper deck had better effects on the economics of the aircraft...

Absolutely right.

With the stretched upper deck, the aerodynamics were improved, giving a slight increased in speed, Mach 0.85 instead of Mach 0.84.
Of course seat capacity was greatly increased but the aircraft was 9000 lb heavier.
Consequently the maximum range was reduced by 2695 km, 1450 nm.

Thank you Steve for these info.

Many temporary designations among the Boeing products.
A B 747-100 short range was even named Boeing Super Airbus, with these titles on the fuselage.

Thank you all my friends.

Especially thanks Steve, Jean Pierre, Baerke for these information. I‘ve seen the title KLM 747-200 'Anthony H. G.Fokker' in the color cover and and I believed the correct description of Inflight.

Indeed it is. I researched as much as I could a few days ago but to busy to post. So here is what I found.

KLM signed a contract with Boeing for freighter conversion of 747-200's to become 747-SUD Combi Aircraft. This subject of Vandan's post :-PH-BUN c/n 21660/389 was converted in 1985, (the same year Boeing announced the 747-400) with the modification involving a major rework of the interior and shortening of the upper deck floor. This was to enable 20 full height 3mtr (10ft) pallet positions to be accommodated and ten shorter positions, one more than the standard 747-200F.

Always fascinating, including Jean Pierre stats on how many airlines did this. It was a quite a fair few. In the case of KLM, I would have would have thought purchasing a few newer 747-400F would have been cheaper than converting ten of the much older 747-200's but there you go. This is indeed one those very special releases of a unique aircraft and with the limited release of this model, even makes it more worth while getting. I see the box artwork Inflight chose for this PH-BUN model is how it was delivered to KLM as a 747-200.
Thanks for posting the pictures Vandan

B748F House Color & KLM B742 'Anthony H. G.Fokker'-20180313_213749.jpg

A picture in a book that I have with a picture from the SUD convertion at Boeing. It says in the text that the costs of the stretch was a tenth of that of a boeing 747-300. According to this book klm did the SUD convertion to ten aircraft (747-206) ;
Ph-buh
Ph-buk (also made by inflight)
Ph-bul
Ph-bui
Ph-bum
Ph-bun (model from this topic)
Ph-buo
Ph-bup
Ph-bur
Ph-but

And they ordered three new 747-306's;

Ph-buu (made by inflight )
Ph-buv
Ph-buw (made by inflight/ard)

Thank you for the info Tom,

I love the rare black & white photo of the conversion.

PH-BUV is a lovely model that has been made by Inflight as well:-IF7430116A

"Sir Geoffrey de Havilland"

Now I have another open question for anyone that can answer regarding the IF7430116A pictured above. The Question is referring to the starboard side, between door R1 and R2 on the pictures below there are 4 windows. Why are there this many windows on the Inflight model above? This aircraft was MSN 23137 line number 600. This aircraft was sold to Orient Thai 747-306M brand new release IF7430118 registered HS-UTK. (pictured below is the same aircraft) Was this aircraft modified too or is the above IF KLM incorrect? I have the Orient Thai One Two - go and was looking to purchase the PH-BUV but now unsure.

Yep. How about the B707-020? Later to become the B720. Love the minutia

Sorry Jascha for the late reply, everything is OK, thank you. As you're seen it on your visit to my home, I've kept my models with my best and most carefully in the basement. So I let enough air distance to the wall (min. 10cm), max. 6 models one row, a dehumidifier is also available. Here are some photos of it:

And also a small place to store my beer:
