They put off a distinct odor...the planes...not the dog.

Not sure if I qualify as an old name, been around since 2006 but not so active in die cast these days. Spending most of my money on flying motorgliders and light aircraft although recently bought the InFlight KLM B747-200.

Good to see a DA.C veteran poster still being active here, welcome back I'd say, although I don't know you.
And well I'm not much of an old member, but I do come around fora good read throughout all the wonderful collections here

Mainly collecting Boeing 747's these days the Gemini Jets 200 PEOPLExpress B747-143 is on my hit list for now.

But I look forward to what people all gather for their airc5raft collections

That's a rough description of the hobby, but brutally true - what, my investment isn't appreciating??? I'm small potatoes around here with 150 die cast airliners, and probably will take 'em with me to the grave, or again I might go all 'Waffle' and unload everything except maybe a single PanAm 747...

Later, Doug

These days im only collecting large scale models and only have 5 or so of them. My 1:200 eva air fleet is mostly gone as well as all my hundreds of 1:200 scaled models. It was really good times however during the hay-day. All those arguments we had, name calling, bashing, haha!

The definition of old will varying from people to people but I would consider old personally to be the times before the diecast metal craze and when inflight200 was the only novelty with few selections/choices to be had. When the diecast metal craze hit years back, thats when i personally started disappearing as there were declining discussions here on DAC about plastic and buying models fully built just wasnt as fun as taking a less detailed plastic model and customizing it.
I am not an old timer in this forum but your post brought back memories when it was just Wooster, Long prosper or PPC for me. I still have a lot of them. The extra detailing (antennas, gear- Any one remember those rubber/plastic landing gears for the 1/250 that you attached into the holes of the models? How about the pewter(?) landing gears for the Bae 146 in 1/100)? It was fun. My most ambitious project was making an SP out of a regular 747. I still have it though without any windows and livery. Just white top and gray belly. It was definitely not correct technically but it did look like an SP, in 1/250 scale-well somewhat.

2003 was a world before handheld smart phones. Keep props dump jets.

sweet, your SP project reminds me of the pan am one i did. Just a flight miniatures model, no hacking like what you did though. http://www.diecastaircraftforum.com/...billboard.html

I did start an an-225 hacked out of a couple of flight miniature an124s however. I never completed that project though.

Gawd, that is farrrrrrr back. Pre-dates my joining here.

When I think back, at one point I was here two-three times a day, now . . . maybe once a month. Times change, priorities change.
