According to Flightradar24 this was really done. You can look it up there.
Don't think that was faked!

Sorry, but an actual flight doesn't make any sense. From any one point on the ground, you would be able to see one 360 degree turn at most. Definitely not anything that would look like more than a straight line, 180 or 360 degree turn. Even the turn radius would be so large as shown on the 'map', all you would really see from the ground is a banking aircraft.

This reminds me of when NORAD (North America Aerospace Defense Command) would 'report' tracking an incoming 'object' from the North Pole across Canada and the United States on Christmas Eve. I like that idea better. It was a nice touch for kids of all ages!

Anyway, Merry Christmas everyone!! And Happy Holidays too!

I received a notification from FlightRadar24 alerting me to the special A380 flight. I have no reason to doubt its authenticity.

Didn't Boeing do a similar feat by flying a pattern that resulted in the shape of a B787 over the continental US a few months ago?

If true, what a waste of 4 hours of flight time and jet fuel for something that would not even be recognizable from the ground. Even if the flight was tracked, the only place it would show up would be on a flight watch website that traced the flight route. More likely, it was Flightradar24's way of saying Merry Christmas to all the enthusiasts and aviation geeks who receive notifications. A nice gesture though.

The Boeing 787 flight is probably an urban legend too, for all of the same reasons. I'll confirm with some of my buddies at Boeing.

I am also sure that the flight and its flight path are authentic.
I can't see any reasons to doubt it.

In this case you should reconsider your thoughts on Santa...

Flight was real. Airbus confirmed on twitter. It was more or less a PR event disguised as a testflight prior to delivery.

It was never meant to be seen from the ground as you are not able to capture such a large structure due to time and space.

I'm sure you all noticed that NONE of the flight data is entered, like on a real flight. And in the screen capture, the aircraft is still airborne

Once you take your tin foil hat off you may notice that there are dozens of screenshots floating around. Would be a little bit difficult to photoshop them all from different sources in a coordinated attempt...

So eine besondere Streckenführung sei dank der Kooperation mit der Deutschen Flugsicherung und Eurocontrol möglich. Insgesamt sei die A380 fünf Stunden in der Luft.

...which translates to:

I'll take mine off right after you do.

Just a thought. Posting some pics of the 'dozens' of screenshots of the flight would be a nice touch too, instead of just being so rude about it. But then we are all used to that here by now.

This is about the only thing that has been posted so far that makes any sense. Or it would if I could read German.

Still sounds like a publicity stunt to me, whether it occurred or not.. Those turns would have been interesting at 41,000 feet.. Curious that Flight Finder doesn't find this particular flight, although it does find other December flights for F-WWAE.

There was one flight listed for F-WWAE on 13 December 2017. It was airborne for about 2 hours and flew several 'racetrack patterns (just what I would expect for a test flight). Here's the links:
you will have to click the 'older' box in the 'depart' box for the full list of flights to come up.
https://flightaware.com/live/findflight/EDHI/EDHI

https://flightaware.com/live/flight/...234Z/EDHI/EDHI

I think there is more than a passing chance that that this is a publicity stunt on the part of Flightware and Airbus to wish us all a Merry Christmas.

Interesting. The listing for F-WWAE on Flightaware has been taken down sometime during our little 'discussion', but not the flight map.

I'm not really sure why you think this is fake. This isn't the first time something like this has happened (Most recently the 787 drawing in the US) nor will it be the last. It's a test flight, the fuel is going to be burned one way or another. It happened over a pretty big geographical area and it happens at 41,000 because that's pretty much where you need to be if you want to do some random turns in holding just for fun. Nobody is going to move dozens of planes around you either laterally or vertically because you want to have fun but above 40,000 then no one really cares. You ain't going to be doing that kind of stuff in the 30's.

Why do I doubt it? Because an aircraft can't be at 2 different places at the same time. Attached is the 'Christmas route, and the actual route. Look at the listing at the bottom for the 13 December flights. Will post more in a few minutes. Or maybe the flight did happen, but not as shown. Like I originally said, nice photoshop job.

BTW, hate to tell yopu but the 787 'flight' was faked also.

And as promised, copies of the 'other' December F-WWAE flights, plus a listing of most December flights on Wednesday, 13 Dec from Flight Tracker.com.

I don't think I'm the one wearing the tin foil hat.

Charlie,
You do realize this isn’t intended for someone to see a Christmas tree in the sky from the ground right? Lol. As mentioned this is a test flight and just having a little fun while doing it. It’s not a waste of fuel as this airplane needed to be airborne anyway
I just don’t understand why you feel this must be fake. It’s nothing crazy or spectacular, just a flight path that made a design when looked at its entirety...just like the huge penises that we have seen drawn before as well lol.

The huge penises are real. You can find pic all over the internet. As for this flight however, tin foil hats, just tin foil hats. Look at the trunk of the 'tree' in the 2 attachments above. I would give more credence if they matched. Part or all of the original pic was photoshopped.

Anyway, you guys can't tell when you are being psyched.
