Default I'm surprised this hasn't been produced

Or has it? I know the database is very outdated and I've not been keeping up with many releases.

I wonder if it would be poopular with collectors?

Interesting. The livery is a little boring but I'd think anything United + 747, even the SP, would sell. This appears to be the reg. United Airlines Boeing 747SP-21 N531PA (N141UA)

No, the aircraft was transferred to United from Pan Am when United bought Pan Am's Pacific routes.

I can only speak for myself but I have to admit that I hate those interim liveries to death.

All a matter of choice. I love Hybrid and Interim liveries. Each aircraft with one of them is unique.

The SP is one of my favorite planes, but this livery is to plain. Maybe for a United fan it can be interesting

I don't find it to be any more plain than the livery it started out as.

KLM4me,

I guess you have to have a certain interest in United and/or the 747SP to be really interested in purchasing this rather boring hybrid Pan Am/United scheme. I am into the L-1011 and, honestly, I would have to think twice if any manufacturer put out the L-1011-500 in that same interim livery (United also acquired six L-1011s together with the Pacific routes). And I'd probably pass on it even if I took that second thought.

Maybe if United had applied a red stripe below the PAA blue cheatline?

Just a thought.....

Personal preference reigns supreme especially if you had flown or seen this particular bird. But, fleet building with interim colors is also important for your real world layout. Because really, when an airline takes in used aircraft, their main goal is to rotate them into the system as fast as possible. And as Doug Seeley always relates: "Keep 'em flying."
